Nigel Pearson says his side will be going all out for victory when they come up
against Premiership outfit Fulham at Craven Cottage in round two of the Carling
Cup tonight (Wednesday, 8pm).
The Foxes go into the clash with three wins and a draw to their name from the opening
four fixture of the campaign - including a first round Carling Cup victory over
Stockport County.
And Pearson confirmed that while the main concern for the season was to gain promotion
back to the Championship, there would be no let up in the cup competitions.
He said: "The league will always be our priority, but that does not change the fact
that this is a competition that we want to try and get as far as we can in.
"It will be a tough game for us - there is no doubt about that. We come up against
a Premiership side who did very well to maintain their status in that division last season. They have also made a few additions to their squad as well.
"The fact that we are playing a Premiership side is not just a big attraction for
the public, but also for the players as well. We are all looking forward to the
game."
Fulham will have a 17-day break following tonight's fixture - and Pearson says that
could have an influence on the team that Roy Hodgson fields on the night.
He added: "We have looked at the different possibilities of the sides that Fulham
could put out. They do not have a game this weekend as their match against Manchester
United has been postponed. I suppose that could have a bearing on their team selection.
"We can spend a lot of time thinking about what they are going to do, but ultimately
we want to get the best out of the side that we field on the night.
"We may be forced to make a couple of changes due to knocks we picked up at the
weekend. But I don't think I will be making the same number of changes as I did
for the Stockport game."
