Referee Chris Kavanagh started refereeing in 1998 at the age of 13 years old. At age 29 years he was promoted to referee in the Blue Square Conference in season 2012-13 and then in the Football League in the 2014/2015 season.

In the summer of 2016 he was promoted the Select Group 2 and therefore will be employed on a full time basis.

Mr Kavanagh has refed two Fulham games, in the 1-1 away draw at Leeds in August last year and in the 3-0 home defeat by Leeds United towards the end of last season when he red carded Kostas Stafylidis for two yellow cards for dissent and then moments later scything down an opponent.

Mr Kavanagh last reffed Wolves in their 3-1 away win at Barnsley at the end of January this year. He booked four Wolves players, one Barnsley player and then sent off Barnsley's Mowett in the 42 second minute.

Last season he refed 32 games and dished out 114 yellows and 3 reds, so an average 3.6 yellows per game. This season so far he has bossed 32 games and issued 106 yellows, an average 3.3 cards a match, and 2 reds

Mr Kavanagh's busiest game so far this season was between Derby and Nottingham Forestin December last year when he booked five visiting players and three home players
