The 31-year-old former New England and Colorado keeper joins The Royals,
who are fifth in the table, in time to make his debut in their match at
Brighton on Friday night. The giant keeper was requested by manager Alan
Pardew, following an injury to first-choice stopper Phil Whitehead.
This will be the second such loan spell that Hahnemann has utilised, with
his very successful stint with Third Division Rochdale coming to a conclusion
last month. The American was in fine form for the Spotland outfit, which
he said at the time was an excellent opportunity for him to be in the 'shop
window'. That appears to have worked, with Reading taking him away from
his currently third-choice role with his Premiership club.
Hahnemann will be looking to help Reading bounce back from being knocked
out of the FA Cup by York City for the second successive year, as they push
for a place in Division One.
