Anthony Taylor started refereeing in the Northern Premier League in 2002, progressing to officiate in the Conference North in 2004. He was appointed to the Football League referees' list at the start of the 2006–07 season and was then promoted to the list of Select Group Referees who officiate primarily in the Premier League in 2010. In 2013 he was promoted to the FIFA officials list.

His first Premiership game was the Fulham 1-0 win over Portsmouth in February 2010 the year Fulham played in the Europa League Final.

The most recent time Mr Taylor refed a Fulham game was earlier this season in September 2020 when we lost 4-3 away at Leeds. He booked three players two of them were Aleksandar Mitrovic (88,d) and Kenny Tete (90,f)

It was some two years previously that Mr Taylor refed Fulham in February 2019, away at Southampton when we lost 2-0. He only booked one player, Kevin McDonald for a foul in the 62nd minute.

Earlier he had refed our 1-2 home defeat by Oldham in the FA Cup in January 2019. He booked five players three of them from Fulham, Kebano (38,f), Odoi (62,d), R Sessegnon (76,f).

Prior to this game he bossed the 1-0 away defeat at Huddersfield on the 5th November 2018 when he booked three players,  two of them from Fulham< Fosu-Mensah (34,f), Mitrovic (76,d).

Prior to that game he refed Fulham in August this year when Fulham lost 3-1 to Tottenham at Wembley and there were no cards issued.

Mr Taylor had of course bossed Fulham during the Play Off Final at Wembley in May 2018 when Fulham beat Aston Villa 1-0. As we know he sent Denis Odoi off for two yellow cards given for fouls. Mr Taylor also booked four Villa players and Aboubakar Kamara for disent.

The last time Mr Taylor refed West Brom was earlier in this season, in October 2021, when they drew 0-0 at home to Burnley. He booked two players from each team.

Last season, 2019/2020, he refed 48 games and dished out 202 yellows and 9 reds, so above average at 4.2 yellows per game. Three of his red cards were in Cup games.

His busiest game recently was Tottenham vrs Chelsea in December 2019 when he yellow carded seven players and sent off Heung-Min Son.
