After beating Sunderland 2-0
we now know the squad are truly the Super Whites
Sunderland may have been somewhat lacking in the striking department along
with our defence being outstanding but Sunderland pressed and pressed
throughout the 90 minutes. It would have been the norm for past Fulham
squads to wilt or to lose interest but not the current squad they were
up for all the tackles and attempts on goals that occurred.
It seemed that at any moment Sunderland could have broken through but
each time the defence was there with the timely header or tackle.
Then another one of the speedy passing movements took place in front of
the Sunderland area and Bazza Hayles was clear in front of their goal
and bang the ball was bouncing in the back of the net. The moaners and
anti-Bazza fans were proved wrong again and Bazza had scored Fulham's
first home goal in the Premiership for Fulham.
Well done Bazza
Bazza may have scored the first goal but the whole team deserve a cheer
as their passing and physical effort was outstanding for 90+ minutes

for the Sunderland game was 2-1 with a crowd of 16950. Two goals for Fulham
was right but the prediction did not have enough confidence in the Super
White's defence or the ability of the marketing department to sell or giveaway
all those Putney End tickets

On Monday Everton and Tottenham fought out a poor quality 1-1 draw with
the only high point being the Referee's decision to send off two Spurs
players. Outside of the sending offs if these two teams continue to play
the poor quality of football seen last night it will be 12 points too
Super Fulham.
Tuesday 21/08/01
Bolton continued to confound the pundits with their second win which
also kept them top of the Premiership. Arsenal lost the battle of Highbury
with Leeds despite United having two players sent off. Ipswich returned
to winning ways against Derby.
Wednesday 22/08/01
The Super Whites notched up their first points in the Premiership
and by the look of it there will be plenty more before the end of the
season. Blackburn were able to profit from Fulham softening up Man Utd
last Sunday and pinched a draw.

Spurs finished with nine players after referee David Elleray had sent
off two men in an amazing three-minute spell. Everton may have grabbed
the point that puts them temporarily top of the Premiership but Elleray's
decisions to show the red card to Gary Doherty and Gus Poyet enraged
the Londoners.But somehow, with calm defending and brave teamwork,
Spurs hung on for 25 minutes with their depleted side to thwart Everton's
attempts to find a winner.

Lee Bowyer and Danny Mills were both deservedly sent off for second
bookable offences in a stormy final 13 minutes at Highbury. Leeds
secured their first win at Highbury in the Premiership since 1994
as they incurred four bookings within the opening 18 minutes. They
were pegged back by Sylvain Wiltord's 32nd-minute equaliser, just
three minutes after Ian Harte had given the visitors the lead with
a quickly-taken free-kick that caught David Seaman off guard. However,
Mark Viduka kept his head as he struck the winner on 51 minutes

Two games played, two victories and two clean sheets - Bolton
must think life in the Premiership is a breeze. However their fans
had to endure a nervous last 10 minutes as Middlesbrough went in search

A stunning home debut from two-goal Finidi George helped UEFA Cup
hopefuls Ipswich to their first win of the season over 10-man Derby
at Portman Road. The visitors were already second best when Brian
O'Neil was dismissed for a second bookable offence just after the
half hour and it was only the athleticism of Poom that kept the score
respectable. Fabrizio Ravanelli's late goal did no more than add a
flattering edge to the score for the visitors.

David Beckham scored at both ends as Blackburn showed that the Premiership
may not after all be the usual procession of silverware to Old Trafford.
To risk a cliche, this match had everything. But it did - goals galore,
shocking misses, a sending off and even Beckham heading into his own
net. The England skipper's own goal allowed Rovers back into the match,
but it was his quick-thinking at a free-kick too which secured a point
for Manchester United when the unthinkable - a defeat - had looked
a real possibility.

Fulham confirmed their Premiership credentials as goals from Barry
Hayles and Louis Saha earned them a pulsating 2-0 victory over Sunderland
at Craven Cottage. The first hour of the contest was played at breakneck
speed, with quick passing and swift tackling from both sides making
the match a thoroughly entertaining spectacle. Hayles' strike came
in the 70th minute after an error from Sunderland goalkeeper Thomas
Sorensen, who gave the ball away on the left side of his area and
Steed Malbranque teed up Hayles to thunder the ball home. Saha clinched
the points after 85 minutes when his 18-yard strike clipped Wearsiders
defender George McCartney's heels with the ball skidding inside the
right-hand post.
