Fulham are poised to sign striker Daniel Cousin after Rangers accepted a £3million
offer for the Gabon international.
The west London side upped their bid on Tuesday and the 30-year-old will now hold
talks over the move.
The Gabon international cost Rangers around £1million when he joined from Lens last
August, but he has set his heart on moving to the Premier League.
Cousin was the subject of an approach from the Cottagers on Monday and after an
initial offer was turned down Fulham returned with the bid which met Ibrox demands.
In 17 Clydesdale Bank Premier League appearances, he netted eight
goals for Rangers.
Although favoured by manager Walter Smith for his goalscoring efforts, Cousin failed
to completely win over the Ibrox faithful during his spell in Glasgow.
He never made any secret of his desire to play in English football's top flight
and has now taken a massive step towards fulfilling that ambition.
The club's official website confirmed on Tuesday: "Rangers have accepted an offer
from Fulham to sell Daniel Cousin and the striker is now on his way to London to
discuss personal terms.
"The Cottagers made a move last night for the 30-year-old Gabon international which
was rejected by Rangers.
"Fulham then came back in again today with an improved offer and this was accepted
by the club."
Former Liverpool striker Jari Litmanen is another possible signing after Fulham
confirmed the 36-year-old is training with them.
Litmanen has been reunited with Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson who he played under when
he captained Finland.
Litmanen was captain during Finland's Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and over the
past decade has earned 110 caps and scored 28 goals.
After starting his career with Reipas in his native country, Litmanen enjoyed
European Cup success at Ajax.
He went on to play for Barcelona before spending 18 months at Anfield where he won
the treble of the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup in 2001.
However, he never became an established first-team player under Gerard Houllier
and moved on for his second spell at Ajax in the summer of 2002.
He has since been with Hansa Rostock of the Bundesliga and Swedish side Malmo FF.
