When the likes of Clattenburg saying that we were wronged by ref and var, i am very confident that we will beat Bournemouth Friday, providing Marco picks a better balanced and in-form team. I might be wrong and have egg on my face after Friday but not bothered i am grown up enough to take the flack. A better balanced football squad would have to come from the cup match against Cambridge and the in form and must play man is Smith Rowe. Rowe looked sharp as a razor when he took that goal and i think Marco made a mistake by not playing him from the get go against Villa. It doesn't take a genius to work the maths. 2-0 up in that first half against Villa and providing we play keep ball and sap their strengh, we would and should have won! Even at 1-0 up you could just feel the lethergy from Villa who looked out of sorts after their Euro campaign. Sometimes we are victims of our own making. This sounds mental but there is a famous quote from Shakespeare that goes, '"The lady doth protest too much, methinks". We are rightly incensed with the antics of two refs and var at the moment and we need to dust off and get this nonsence out of our system and i think Marco should take special care and note from his yellow card because he is in danger of boiling over again and near a sit out in the stand. Pick Robbo for Friday because now he should be back to his best and he will get those crosses in to Smith Rowe and we need Traore doing what he does best and that is his crossing skills. Traore might not be the best finisher but we don't expect that. What he does best is putting a ball in and he is good at that. We also need one of our target men fit and the word is that Jimenez could feature. Muniz would be a bonus. Yes some will say it was only Cambridge but i think the form team should follow on from that game. Find a space for Sessegnon and have a little cameo role for boy wonder Josh King at some point if you like but no way should we be giving Josh King 90 minutes against an experienced Bournemouth like we wasted against a out of sorts Villa. Unlike some i am happy with this squad we have and we don't look a million miles apart from the likes of Liverpool who lost to Palace and City who lost to Brighton and some other freaky results that tell a tale of the Premiership right now. Wake up guys' just take a look at some of the games and results so far this season and we should be kicking ourselves. We havn't got the best squad but we can do much better and Marco knows and he will get his act together. Nuff said!!!!!

In my view Marco is to loyal, do not change a team because a player has a bad game. If however a player is inconsistently poor he should be dropped. Pierra could not shoot straight and his free kicks an corners we dreadful, that is an area where we have improved incredibly. He should have dropped. You also have to appreciate for some reason supporters need a player to moan about and Smith-Rowe has inherited that title. He of course make a rod for his own back with his inconsistency, but if he had a regular place that might change. Marco set an aim to have two good players in each position which he has achieved. The most difficult positions to fill are the strikers. We have two who do not score regularly which is their function. We at least now have more goal scoring alternative in the team but we still have not solved. In Miro we had a value gen and those are not easy to replace with the money we have. A final point is the mental state of the players as against Villa when they equalised it was as if a shadow had fallen over us and we played badly from that point. Players must learn to control their minds and ever get depressed in match, for example if you striker has gone off injured find an effective way to play without them. They are professional and should know how to react. For top teams this sort of reaction is rare for us it happens often. If we want to become a top team we must act as one.

TTIN' Smith Rowe should not have inherited a title of spare tyre. You guys need to understand and accept that we signed him and he should be first priority over Josh King. King is a huge talent but the minutes are stacking up and sooner or later someone has to decide if minutes is good economically, if that makes sense? Smith Rowe and goal returns is actually good and a reasonable return for minutes on the pitch. I will not win a popularity contest by saying that Smith Rowe would have given Fulham better returns for Fulham but i am going to say it regardless. What was the point of spending 39 odd million on Smith Rowe to leave him on limited game time on the bench? I like Marco and he is one of our best managers to manage Fulham but i think he has got this badly wrong. I admit and we can see the improvement in Josh King but at this level it needs to be more. We know our strikers are not that prolific but Jimenez has his limitations and Muniz is still young and raw but we need to grow him and see him mature. Smith Rowe i feel with more pitch time will improve his goal stats further than the six last year or was it 8?

Joachim Andersen stated before the match that this was going to be a tough match against Aston Villa. If you are resigned to lose before a ball is kicked all is lost. What we need is a sqad that starts believing that it can win every match! A positive attitude like Brighton HA adopt always gives any team an extra man on the field. Come on Fulham, one loss is not the end of the world - I agree with our Managerm we were robbed of at least one penalty, but you cannot go against the Ref, let alone VAR....sadly.

So Starmer says Farage never had any positive things to say about the country and the economy in order to try to get into Downing street. Didn't he and Rachel Reeves and the rest of the labour did exactly the same thing last year - talked Britain down and to a point, our economy pretty much collapsed as it frightened away all investments. Am no fan of Farage and will be bad news if Reform wins. But Starmer, like the rest of his team, is a hypocrite.

Farage flying the flag is racist? Starmer and co waving the flags are the good and right? LOL'!!! Starmer is wooden and no personality and he is turns one way and that way as the wind blows. Is his wife Jewish? Nothing is real about Starmer and i think his public showing with his wife is staged; they don't look comfortable. I will say one thing about Tony Blair. He was slick with shiny teeth but he was a real personality with his wife Cherie and kids in public. Cherie Blair was chatty and real and the Blair family were warm towards labour minded people. I don't feel the love about Starmer, who is Starmer? Local elections next year i think he is gone. Write the Conservatives off with 100 and more mp's still in tow. I think they will make a surprise comeback because the Conservatives have a balance and more know-how on money business etc. In Covid and the Ukraine war, how better would Starmer and Labour be? Farage? none of his limited pot of MP's have the experience...

How fulhamish we play a team thats crap so the papers say, they have a striker who aint scored for 11 games, cant win a game and then we appear ,and its xmas again , you just knew it, two players cost 30 mill each sitting on bench a giant striker gone into cyber space, and subs who looked clueless, why ???? ask the coach and the board who messed about for months and came up with nothing worth talking about..

All managers make mistakes, Marco make less of them that is why he is a very good manager. I believe he has an obsession with having a team full of experienced players and any young player has to very, very good to come into his thoughts. Younger players give you more energy and have different ways of thinking. Even Muniz looks good at times except in his lack of scoring potential, which proves Marco's point, But if you are good enough you are old enough.

Looking at our next few matches, I think that we are looking at a worrying period of matches, with Bournemouth on Friday, a place where we never seem to prosper. I have been to these matches over many seasons, and I have never seen us win one match. Thank goodness we then have an International break, when we might get one of our strikers fit again. Unfortunately we never do well after these breaks, as horror of horrors, we have Arsenal at home, then it's up north to Newcastle, and despite last seasons surprising win, it's not a happy hunting ground for us, so as I say, we have a bad group of games with little chance of picking up even a point, so I am dreading looking at the league table in late October, where we could quite easily find ourselves in the bottom 4, and from there on in we just might be in a relegation battle this side of Christmas. We could of course beat Wycombe, but sod the cup, it's points that we want at this stage.
Replies
Jesus wept! What a miserable bastard you must be. We have 8 points from six games (plus a further 2 or 3 owed to us by VAR), on course for at least 50 points and after one poor second half you are talking about relegation? We have a brilliant emerging star 18 year old and a new signing who looks like he could brighten up the whole league,we are waiting for one of the best left backs to come back from injury and maybe even the long awaited main striker to come into the side and you think these are worrying times? Maybe you should follow bake off - I think football might be to stressful for you

However am I not allowed to voice my concerns over the next few fixtures. Hopefully, I am way off of the mark, and we win them all, and a lot depends on whether we can get Rual and Muniz back for these games. This time, we might actually be grateful for the the two week break.

Eeyore i like your optimism but please do not take the good Lords name in vain. Jonah Kusi-Asare we await his debut and i hope there were good reasons he couldn't make the bench at Villa. Marco Silva didn't look interested are particularly excited about the win against Cambridge but there is a lot we should have taken from that game. Our squad is decent enough and we have January to tweak it if needed...

Jonah Kusi-Asare's professional goal-scoring record includes a hat-trick for Sweden's U17s in a UEFA Euro U17 qualifier, but details on senior club goals are still developing as he is a young player still rising through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich and was previously AIK's youngest-ever player. For AIK, he made four appearances in the Swedish Allsvenskan but did not score. Key details about his goals: Sweden U17s: Scored a hat-trick in a UEFA Euro U17 qualification match. AIK (Sweden): Made four senior appearances but did not score. Bayern Munich: Progressed from the U19 team to the reserve team after scoring three goals and an assist for the U19s. He has also made some appearances for the first team, though no senior goals have been recorded yet for the current 2024/2025 season. As a young, promising striker, his goal-scoring record is still being built through his development in the youth teams.

(1) Josh King will be a contender for young player of the season. (2) Don't blame Kevin that we didn't buy a striker. (3) We played rubbish in the 2nd half but if we got one of the stonewall penalties, 2-0 up would be a completely different game. (4) Marco made the wrong call to use Adama as a striker instead changing the formation (e.g. false 9, kill the game being 1-0 up, etc) or use another winger as a striker. (5) Have people forgotten we have a 18year old 6'5 striker loaned from Bayern Munich??
Replies
If we had come in at half time 2-0 up we would still have lost as without a striker most of our fire power had gone and it was easy for villa to attack us. I blame Marco, we have an 18 year old striker who has scored lots of goals and should have been on the bench. Marco must know if only one of your strikers is injured the other will give his all, but his all last a few minutes and without a striker we looked rudderless.

Pretty sure it was Marco that pushed to sign Kevin. Need to give the guy a chance to settle in. Not sure if he even speaks English yet and he’s been playing for one of the best teams in a very poor league. Playing for Fulham in the best league in the world is a completely different proposition. Chuck looks like he could do a job for us but agree with most that we should have signed a striker (even before) Mitro left. Still think we’ll have a good season though although Bournemouth will be tough.

I know it's early days, and we are sitting quite comfortably in 10th place, along with Chelsea and Brighton, but I have a horrible feeling that this season is beginning to look like we are in for a struggle to avoid being in a fight to stay up, basically because our obvious lack of a real striker. Even at this time of the season we can usually have a perspective as to which teams will be in a relegation fight, but this season it's going to be very hard to pinpoint, and it is not going to be a case of, we are far too good to go down. Even with only 8 points we could be much higher up the table, if our goal difference was better, which it isn't. Luckily Arsenal beat Newcastle yesterday saved us from dropping another place, and that is scary.

Shame as we were in control 30mins great header 1-0. Villa awful yet we gift all 3 goals. First, basic mistimed jump from Anderson-lets in Watkins. Second Traiore huge frame falls to ground McGinnis has room to shoot instead Anderson backs off instead of going to the ball. 3rd lose the ball again and terrible defending game over. Josh King is on a different level and a star in the making. Terrible decision as clear penalty for him and handball also given before. Come on guys we know Fulham and no real surprise. Onto the next .

Villa were tentative and slow to pass out in that first half and we did not take full advantage when we should have. What happened to our usual dominant possession of the ball and crisp movements that should have sapped the legs from a nervy Villa that scraped a 1-0 in Europe? The plan was to play Kevin in there from the start but a slight shoulder injury changed that one. Kevin is decent and we need to go back to his showing from the first time he made his debut which was brilliant and now all of a sudden he is apparently a bad signing. Smith Rowe should have been in the mix from the get go and i think he was showing great progress in in last few appearances with a goal to his name hit posts ect. Wilson faffed about too many times near the corner flag and had a telling off from the ref. Make a decision who is taking the corner him or Lukic. Wilson was wasteful at corners which we should have cut out with Pereira gone. Lukic is now on a 4th unnecessary booking and i think he is too clumsy sometimes at this level. Josh King was good but still a work in progress. At this level you make it count and sadly in front of goal King was lacking, you don't get meddles for trying. Too many mistakes by our boys today and you can't just blame Andersen. Marc Silva gets booked a yellow because he is over doing it with his ranting and sadly Marco plus antics send the wrong message back to our boys who need leadership. Traore another winger on for a striker is nuts and maybe he could have pushed Smith Rowe in there if the big German guy from Bayern Munich is not ready for the grown ups. Its rediculous to even think that the likes of Bayern Munich would send over a striker who is useless. Marco should make his mind up? If Josh King is ready to go and all grown up and mature? I still am not convinced. Give me a goal, give me something. Marco got his selections wrong from the get-go. One more time in saying this, Harry Wilson is not a 90 minute player...

VAR rearing it's ugly unwanted head again, two penalty decisions turned down (probably given at the other end) Now same thing with Arsenal having penalty denied at Newcastle. Can't enjoy football anymore with this nonsense being used to manipulate games.

VAR is a monstrosity that is ruining the game, it stops the flow and the enjoyment I absolutely hate it, it's not as if they use it properly. Watch how rugby referees use video to help them come to decisions, the referee is always in charge of the process and the referees decision is final.

In our match King was definitely brought down in the box and he did not dive. The other one was not a penalty. Anyway it is all irrelevant as once we lost our striker we did not know how to score. Even it was 2 1 to us at halftime we would of lost.

I'm beginning to hate football, VAR, and poor refereeing that always seems to go against us, time after time, and week after week. Relegation this season is goingbto be a right royal battle, as the 3 teams that came up this season are not going to be cannon fodder for the rest of us, and any team outside the top 6 are not going to be safe, and that includes us. The usual 38 point safety net, might not be the case this season, and we might be talking about 40 points or more. I don't think for one minute that we will struggle, unless VAR continues to ruin our season, like today. We will of course have to pray that, also like today, we don't have any major injuries.
Replies
Theres no stopping us making the opposition look good. we were by far the better team but onother Anderson blunder and a bent referee were enough to distabilise the team completely. Not an excuse but i missed Tete today, and dont know why Muniz wasnt on the Bench.Im a firm admirer of Adama but hes a winger. Wilson and ESR are nipper down the middle.

Muniz is injured so why was our 3rd striker not on the bench. Traoré does not look or appear anything like a striker. He would of been better to bring a centre back on and play Anderson up front. We passed the ball around with nowhere to go.

If Muniz was a doubt or known injury why wasn’t the young Loany from Germany on the bench. What is the point of having a striker and not utilizing him. Villa are a poor side and in the second half we made them look classy. Another game where a second goal was needed and never materialized, can’t make out how Josh King was booked for simulation, and two Villa penalty claims not given and neither player booked for simulation, or how Marty Cash handball was not penalized and considered natural. His wasn’t facing ball, and back turned.

I honestly can’t take much more of this. This season has been full of dreadful decisions going against us from referees and VAR. It started with Brighton, then Chelsea, and now we’ve had the final straw with two shocking calls today: • Josh King being booked for what they called a “dive” – absolutely ridiculous. • The blatant handball that stopped what would otherwise have been a certain goal. It’s becoming a pattern of disgraceful decisions piling up against us, and it really takes all the enjoyment out of watching Fulham. I’m honestly at the point where I just feel completely disillusioned.

So we go to Villa Park tomorrow with our heads held high. I agree with what Joachim Andersen said earlier that this will be a tight match to win. We will have our work cut out as Villa seek their first home win of the season. Sadly for the home supporters I do not expect that to occur tomorrow, but a draw could well be on the card and a score draw at that. Are you hoping to see Harvey Elliott playing? I do not think that he will because the Manager has not used him yet and he has only just started training with the first team squad apparently. Also they have to use him sparcely or are committed to signing him permamently. I know you all thought the world of him when he sodded off to Liverpool.

Watkins cannot hit a barn door so far this season and they are struggling back in the league with a euro campaign. Saying that, they did win lol and maybe a turnaround in fortunes? Na' we win this one and i think about time we tank Villa. Our only good day i can remmember against them was in a Championship final i think it was? Somebody will correct me...

If we are going to get anywhere in this league we must not lose anymore games we are expected win, the match today is a very good example. This is the day for our wingers to put in good crosses and and our midfielders stick the in the nest. Villa have only scored one league goal this season do not allow any more. We have a solid defence and a good midfield. I do not think we should bother with our two useless "strikers" who have between them scored one League goal.

Football and form is so very unpredictable in this prem more and more week after week and i just smile to myself at some very strange or i should say, surprising results. If Brentford who beat Utd today are a poor team, how do we explain Man Utd? And more amazingly we smashed Brentford so are good or bad or we Fulham? Looking at Liverpool i don't think they are miles better for getting rid of Nunez and co and i think Arne Slot tweaked his squad a little bit just to put his own stamp on it and yes maybe some needed to move on because of contract circumstances. Brighton beating Chelsea 3-1 is mental, i did not see that coming. Is this a poor premiership season and how good are we, Fulham? Or are we still a bad team that will struggle to stay up. Mr Angry, i am waiting with baited breath for your expert knowledge. Please enlighten me and 'er' the rest of the dunces on here...

The Premier League standard and quality is abysmal, there are so many reasons for this decline over the past six seasons. Teams don’t move the ball fast enough, fewer players are creative and can go past defenders, set plays are poor, challenges are weaker, overall standard of players is lower.

Manchester United have not been in Champions League for a while which means there income for spending has halved so they cannot spend much more than us. Like us you need a top manager to make the best of what you can afford. It show why the top four is largely static because they consistently have better players and managers than everybody else. If we could manage to sneak in there we cab buy a better team in the following season and stay in the top four. It is not impossible and would radically change us as a club as we would get more sponsorship and would fill the ground for every game.

PS any suggestions to come in live in Fulham please include free accomadation.Same rights as the illegals

You have to accept this if you want us to be able afford what we do now. The TV money is such a large proportion of our income. Saying that I agree with you, they should not be able to change the matches the televise and the kick off times. The Premier League could help by allowing Sky to televise Saturday 15.00 hours kicks, them they would not need many if any time changes. The European competitions could make all their matches on Tuesday and Wednesday so we would not need any matches on Sunday. If the authorities could think about the supporters and less about money they could get a good deal for us.

A little naive if you don’t mind me saying Pointless. There are thousands of illegals working for families, friends of families, unscrupulous employers etc. paying well below minimum wage. They take their papers and house 20 to a bedroom and then charge half their income for the pleasure. When C&E raid these places, they arrest them and then let them go because they have no documentation. Watch a documentary series called border control; it will really open your eyes.

Rest assured you can deport someone who doesn’t have a passport. I was only responding to your comment which is incorrect. Paddy is correct in saying that you have to go to a lot of effort but it is doable. The Government can use anyone of the following documents:- an Emergency Travel Document, a United Kingdom Letter, a Chicago Convention Letter. Where the problem lies I suspect is establishing the individual’s nationality and reaching agreement with their embassy. If a person is in the country illegally they can be arrested and forcibly removed. Failure to cooperate will result in additional charges and other deportation procedures. So it can be done, the question is do our Government follow their own procedures? One thing to consider is that identity cards whilst not resulting in the loss of rights for a British citizen do impact on an immigrant and their ability to work. If all legal immigrants awaiting approval for the right to stay could legitimately work in the meantime, they technically would no longer be a drain on the exchequer by being housed or paid benefits. If applied correctly that would save the country billions. They would of course need to be issued with a special type of time restricted card.In summary therefore, yes they can be deported, identity cards will not be some additional tool to spy on British citizens , all the information is already in the public domain and yes , the authorities need to adopt their own procedures. That and get out of the EHNCR and ENCR and prevent Starmer and his mates from raising spurious rights to stay.

The Premier League Title, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League cup are the only thing that count as major trophies. Forget the Cambridge game, their clever manager found a way to stop or wingers getting into the game. Our manager is more clever still and moved Kevin into the middle and told the players to concentrate on playing through the middle. This is of course where we scored our brilliant winning goal. Things have changed when you play lower League teams, they stick 11 men behind the ball and break when they can, the few times they broke away we stopped then easily, so it was a good professional win. If you expected anything different you do not understand what is going on in football.

On your second point TTFN, in the Championship winning season, every home game was against a low block yet we seemed to manage record wins but, since being back in the Prem, we just cannot manage a dynamic performance against defensive teams. Leeds also being a case in point. Probably why our away form has improved but if we are to break more records this season, Marco needs to find a way to beat teams that come here to defend. Perhaps Boa is a bigger miss than we thought?

ID cards are a red herring. Illegal immigrants get illegal work with illegal employers. Total waste of public money!!

If identity cards mean I know longer have to send copies of my passport and or drivers licence, plus a utilities bill( less than 3 months old) every time I wish to open a bank, investment account, buy a house, write a will, open an ISA, building society account, have any dealings with a solicitor,ie.power of attorney, start a trust, make an investment in a listed company then I will consider them an absolute boon. There are quite a few other examples where they will come in handy but I just lost interest. They will undoubtedly be of benefit to prospective employers who would have knowingly to break the law to employ someone who doesn’t have identity, thus limiting abuse. If they wish to act criminally then that’s a whole different issue.

Sounds like you’ll enjoy being awarded social credits like they do in China to monitor ‘trustworthiness’. I hope all those looking forward to it still enjoy the thrill when a government they didn’t vote for starts to ramp up its usage. It’s a dictator’s dream and the only ones affected will be the ordinary plebs, not the criminals. Someone without ID now will still not have it when cards are compulsory. What exactly will the police do to an illegal when they catch him? Same as now, take his details, send him on his way, telling him to report to his nearest police station. He doesn’t, so what happens then?

As I was issued with an identity card in 1942 and I think, although not sure, that it was valid until probably the late ‘40s. I’m not quite as paranoid as your good self. Infact I’ve still got it, maybe in can be re-activated. It will tighten up on so many loop holes and will make many daily transactions much easier. I suspect if someone is operating outside of the law they could be agrieved at its introduction but if one has nothing to hide it should present a problem. As it is DVLA has all your details, information that it is happy to share with, the police, insurance companies, debt collectors etc. NHS and other bodies have your NHS and NI numbers all of which are traceable. Of the countries in Europe I think only Denmark and Ireland don’t have cards. Germany, France, Italy plus many form India to Mexico do. Only the Anglo Saxon group, US, Canada, Australia, U.K. don’t.

It’s about control. ID cards were issued by the government during the war as a security measure because we were fighting a foreign enemy. The government today is the enemy. They will use your information to control and spy on you. It’s nothing to do with criminals or criminal activity.

Obviously we will have to agree to disagree, but I would just stress my main point that Government, should it want to , can glean all the information that it wants on you now/today, using all of the data recorded on you through the mountains of information held on all of the public, except immigrants who have no such records. Can’t really see how an identity card will allow greater control of people who’ve been in the system for years. Guess we’ll all have to wait and see if we get that 5am knock on the door:))
posted by Mortlake (Guest) - Saturday 27th September 2025, 7:50 AM

The government can’t glean information because there are protections, government departments don’t share information. HMRC don’t talk to DWP etc. With all this information in one place it can be seen by any department without your permission. It can also be stolen all at once.
posted by Paddy O’Doors (Guest) - Saturday 27th September 2025, 1:06 PM

That is just not true Paddy. Furthermore this information is all available somewhere if the police or Government body required the information they could get it , legal or illegally, as you have implied. An identity card does not leave you anymore vulnerable than you are at present. Identity cards bring more benefits than not.

Apparently, after a few years or so a manager's training and methods can get boring and monotonous and players stop listening, learning and taking instructions. Marco Silva is bucking the trend and i think going into his 5th year he is demonstrating that he still commands deep respect and attention and there is no better game to highlight this better than against Brentford. Josh King made that horrendous mistake that could have been costly through a dodgy backpass but our young pupil quickly shook off the error and went about his business with great urgency and purpose and order is restored between master and pupil. Even after our late late show in the transfer market Marco is still eagerly demonstrating his love and affection for the cause which is great to see, we just love Marco and his antics and various chats to the refs which shows passion galore. A win against Cambridge didn't have the desired effect but a win is a win and i think Cambridge and Manager Neil Harris are progressive and quite knowledgeable about us Fulham. The doubling up on the pacy Adama Traore and the tricky Kevin showed that Neil Harris did his homework and made the game difficult for us. Traore had an off day but these things happen to every player and i wouldn't get rid of him to one of our rivals because of a bad game. Traore never made good use of his pace because he delays his runs to often when he should be going through the gears a bit more rapidly. And make good use of those crosses into the danger area would give the likes of Muniz a lot more to aim for. Kevin and Samuel will always compete with each other to the dribble and i also Kevin in particular will take on too many defenders and lose the ball sometimes which is expected. What our flair players need to do often is show your skills naturally and nail the move. We shouldn't discourage these guys or change anything about their game, afterall football is built on entertainment and we want to be entertained. Tom Cairney could and should do better against Cambridge but he didn't. We want Kevin back to his best and his best was against Leeds where he showed vision and skill to nearly scoring a wonderful goal. I love the contrast and balance of our team and the ever green Marco Silva still commands deep respect.
Replies
Leeds gave Kevin plenty of space, but as you have said the Cambridge manager had done his homework and two wingers wee marked out of the match. Our goals was a real Premier League goal with good passing and a good finish. When we played against a very defensive Brentford we used the long ball a great deal more with success. On another point Jim in his commentary on the Brentford match and a number of others have not realised the definition of a foul have changed in that a foul is a foul and if it is accidental or deliberate does not matter.

Agree TTIN' sometimes in games like this one, a bit of quality stands out and our goal was a good quality team goal. We are not the only ones to struggle to break teams down and i think we beat ourselves up a little too much and players are picked out for bad criticism from one cup game. Up at Villa Sunday and it will be interesting to see who is picked following on from the cup game and how they perform against a out of form Villa who are struggling this season with a added on euro campaign. It happens to most teams outside the top four. It happened to us so many years ago.

its very rare to put 11 quite good players together and turn out a good performance if they are not used to playing together.Look at national teams when they play in tournaments. Whoever we play next round it would be more sensible to simply change 3-4 players from the previous match.

That starting eleven should have been good enough to have seen off a mid table 2nd division side, but they were not. That team were so pedestrian, had no energy or ideas in their build up and the chief culprit was Tom Cairney, our aging play maker. Jimenez and Traore were very poor. You could see frustration building on Marco's face and I bet he kicked some arses during the H/T break.

Moan as much as you like but Marco has taught all the squad members to win tough when the have to. These are the sort of games we would have lost before Marco came.

I think our sentencing system is flawed. Apparently, the average sentence for sexual assault in UK is 12-18months with the maximum 10years. Our judicial system is far too lenient. We don't send thugs into jail, we treat small petty crime like shop lifting is a right, we don't even both to tackle burglary unless someone is hurt. instead, we want to go after drivers driving 23mph on a 20mph road. We've lost a bit of common sense in our judicial system.
posted by JohnC (Guest) - Tuesday 23rd September 2025, 1:52 PM

MST, I could not agree more. Our judicial system is a mess and magistrates or judges who hand out ridiculously lenient sentences should be struck off and their judgement cancelled. Magistrates court can be the worst with some sentences inappropriate. I was caught letting a friend ride my father’s bicycle which had a motor in the back wheel and as he came around the corner he shouts out “I am Geoff Duke” just as a policeman was coming the opposite way. So, the policeman says “come here Geoff Duke” and we both got booked and had to go to a magistrate’s court. I was scared to death and the magistrate went on and on making me feel like a harden criminal. Then he starting talking about custodial sentence which really had me worried but he relented and fined me £5, which was a lot of money in 1952. Before all the comments start to flow I am sure Paddy and a few others will say it was a pity that I didn’t get a custodial sentence. Just reminiscing.

I was two players out. Apart from Kevin, Marco does not fancy our signings as he did not use them opportunity to start them all. I do not believe the new striker is worse than our two existing strikers as that is not possible. My late grandmother would be better. We watched both of them one stands about where the ball isn't the other runs about where the ball isn't.

I bet it’s a while before Josh King tries another pass across his penalty area like that. I heard a story on a podcast from a former Notts Forest player that Brian Clough actually fined a player who tried a similar cross field pass. Sent the fine in writing: ‘For attempting to pass the ball across ….. fined the sum of ….’

Tommy Doc used to fine players a tenner if they passed backwards.

You play the most talented youngster and he is more likely to make a mistake than more experienced players who think quicker. I am sure Marco knows that and will not be fining King but he may joke about it.

I would blame Leno for putting Josh in a difficult position

I agree, Leno always puts our defenders under unnecessary pressure, he very rarely boots or throws the ball long. He also is slow to deliver the ball with his dithering about. Some may say that's how Silva wants to play out from the back, but sometimes you have to use your brain to assess the situation and just clear it upfield.

Ridiculous to blame Leno when King showed for the ball unmarked.

I bet you lads were like me were saddened that Saturday's result dumped Brentford FC, who are not a London team in danger of relegation (Brentford is in Middlesex!). Mind you it was a great result and FFC now at 9th in the league bodes well for the coming season. Dry your eyes lads.

Last year, we start games really strong but peter out in the last 15mins or so and lost many points in the process. We'd be in Europe if games finished at the 85mins last season. That was also the case with the season - we started strong but losing 5 of the last 7 games and probably stopped performing from March. Intentionally or un-intentionally, Marco has changed his strategy this season. You could argue we finished each of the 5 games so far with more quality on the field than we start, and the stats back that with us scoring so many late goals. We bring on the big hitters late on in the game when the oppositions are tired. This strategy is clearly working so far. If we can do the same for the season, we will break many more records that Marco hinted.

Was a bit surprised at starting eleven against bees but apart from that poor first goal came back strongly and with a well balanced bench Marco proved right

Alright, alright, so there’s an opportunity for a bit of joking around. The internet encourages that sort of thing, and I’ve done my fair share. But what about ‘standing up to the bullies’? Standing up throughout the game generally really involves only a selfish minority in the first rows, but it then prompts all the rows behind to have to stand as well. There were older people who actually saw nothing of Saturday’s game, since standing for extended periods for them proves to be too uncomfortable. I hunted round the club website (and followed Paddy O’Doors advice), eventually finding a suitable address. FFC promptly kindly replied saying ‘…. I’m sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience at Saturdays match. We appreciate and value your feedback on this matter that you have raised. I have passed your email on to the relevant teams for consideration in possible future changes.’ Now the internet is providing opportunities to ’stand up’ as well, and follow up. I do realise that there are ‘true fans’ who do stand at every game (at the rear of the Hammersmith End; the Putney ‘away’ end), and the club tries to be both realistic and accommodating. But the truth is that the ground regulations and legal obligations are very clear, and the best the club can do is to encourage those in pitch side seats to buy their tickets for another part of the ground. (MST - you are just a season ticket holder? For the work you have to do in keeping a minority of these true fans’ in line, you deserve more.)

Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal will fight out the top three places, Spurs and Chelsea flatter to deceive and the rest are much of a muchness. We have a solid defence a decent midfield and strikers who need the midfielders to score most of the goals. Fourth place is up for grabs and we must have a decent chance if we can find consistency and we supporters can give the ferocity of support we gave last night.

The most important part of this season, is similar to other seasons, and that is to get to 38 points and safety ASAP, and at this moment, nothing else really matters, so win 10 more matches, then sit back and enjoy the rest of the season after that.

TTIN agree with you. We could have been 2nd if we were not robbed of a goal at Chelsea. Also, apart from maybe the Brighton game, we have been dominant so far this season. We just need to keep picking up points against teams in the bottle half of the table, otherwise, it will be like last season, a season of if only! I don’t think we will finish in the top 4 - we still lack quality in some areas. However, top 6 should definitely be a target. My biggest concern is losing Marco mid season. We have West Ham, Forest (again), Man U, maybe even Newcastle and Villa could be looking for a new manager in the next few weeks/months. But looking good!
posted by JohnC (Guest) - Monday 22nd September 2025, 6:31 AM

We outplayed Man U and should have beaten them two. last season we had lots of games we should have won. We must win from winning position consistently that is the key.

As a long standing Fulham supporter, and looking ahead to this Sunday's match with Villa, it is inbred into my brain, that as Villa have not won a game this season, and only scored one goal, we will be the sacrificial lamb, and they will have their first win of the season against us. On all known form we should have a comfortable win against them, but will we, or will this be the usual Fulhamish result, or are those days now behind us ?

Would you rather see Villa won or the draw they had yesterday? I'd definitely prefer the draw. Their manager is taking a massive bet calling his players lazy. I think something is going on there and he's losing the dressing room. I am optimistic we can continue our winning run.
posted by JohnC (Guest) - Monday 22nd September 2025, 8:48 AM

No worries Craven. Ive done away with the Fulhamish spell whereby we make ordinary teams look good. This season we will make top teams look mediocre and be the top team taking the 3 points in injury time.
