If we sell schwarzer and bring in rob green this a major step back. I would rather hughes give stockdale a chance. greens handling is more than poor and im not just saying this because of the world cup, he gives you 4 bad mistakes a season.

I posted the above message on the messageboard before the start of the season in the end it caused alot of controversy and arguements.

Multiple Hull fans came on this site dishing out abuse because they couldn't stand or even comprhend the things i said just wanted to say that every predition i made in my initial post proved to be correct.

Never in a million years were they going to get michael owen.

Phil brown would get sacked before the end of the season.

and ultimately that hull would go back down where they belong and bullard would go down with them and signings like him were going to put them in financial trouble.

All proved true.

"Skysports.com understands that Premier League new-boys West Brom are leading the chase for Fulham's Ghana international defender John Pantsil.

Fulham have just named Mark Hughes as their new boss and it is believed the ex-Manchester City manager could be prepared to let the defender leave.

The Craven Cottage outfit have been linked with Aston Villa right-back Luke Young and are mulling over selling Pantsil rather than losing him for free next summer."

I'd be really disappointed if we sell Paintsil, he has the passion we need to complement the more reserved nature of some of our other players. Also is Luke Young better than Paintsil, i'm not convinced he is despite JP's very occasional lack of concentration. Considering Young isn't moving to Liverpool due to a wage issue i don't see why we'd shift an established player out for a more expensive option.

Might just be the usual transfer BS but stil worrying to hear about.

I really don't see the issue with Hughes being our new manager or the potential signings we have been linked with since he was put in charge.

Hughes was very succesful at Blackburn with a very mediocre team with the exception of Roque Santa Cruz.

Look at the temperamental players he has had to deal with diouf bellamy chimbonda etc he is a good tactician and spends his time on the training ground very much in the mould of hodgson and by the players he has had to deal with is a very good man manager as well considering he got the best out of all those players.

We play a system where the two central midfielders sit back in front of our defence which allows the full back to come into our attacks we are very much a wing minded team and there is very few players better than bellamy at playing down the wing at the moment. He is quick skillful and a very good eye for goal his tempermant is irrelevant as he has proved at 2 clubs and national level he enjoys playing under mark hughes.

Stephen Ireland bit of a strange character but an excellent passer of the ball and creative player and a brilliant player to release the likes of dempsey and duff down the wings and create more chances for our front two.

Santa Cruz this is a player much like Zamora but with increased skill and finesse. Would be a fantastic signing for our club and do alot to boost the clubs stature it is great to see that we are not being over ambitious after getting to a european final but with causious optimism we look to progress.

I am very excited for the new season and cannot wait for the kickoff

agree with you about Bellamy and Ireland, both good footballers. I'd be concerned about Santa Cruz coming in though. How many games has he been a 100% fit and able to play for City?

Also with Bellamy and Ireland we'd have to either break our wage structure, potentially upsetting the team morale, or they'd have to take a huge wage cut. With Tottenham interested in Bellamy i see the lure of Champions League football, and a lot more money, winning out over affection for Hughes.

What about Michael Johnson? Talented player and a more realistic target if the other aren't willing to accept lower wages.

Michael johnson i believe is unattainable with all the high price foreign players city are bringing in the need to keep some of their homegrown talent to abide by the new premier league regualtions

PFA Football Furlong Raceday at Royal Windsor Racecourse on Sunday, 8th August 2010.

Come prepared to support Fulham and share the excitement of Football's Day at the Races on Sunday, 8th August 2010 to watch the horses thunder past the winning post.

Football Furlong brings together two of the UK's great sporting passions - football and racing. Horses and jockeys will race in the shirt colours of Premiership football teams. Each result earns points for the club being represented, points that go towards the PFA Football Furlong League table. At the end of the afternoon the winning football club will lift the PFA Football Furlong trophy.

As well as the racing, there will be lots to see and lots to do. Football stars past and present will be there on the day, and Chelsea FC's Football in the Community team will be providing free football masterclasses throughout the morning. The infamous Mascot Challenge will also take place and we promise this will be a great day out for everyone.

I have to say every cloud has a silver lining.... A few weeks ago a very good friend of mine who supports this excellent club..( please dont tell him I said so) was down . Somerset C.C. were on the up' however Fulham had lost their Manager.
So I pointed out various replacments Sven,McLaren,I even thought the Lancs Cricket coach Moores was a choice, (I did hope Strachan might move from Boro like his predessesor, you know the ITV presenter of Footie.) Nothing would dispel his gloom. So TODAY we HAVE the very good News that Mark Hughes has shed his vest and is moving South.

Magic, the only trouble is my friend is at the Globe watching two plays of some old fart from years ago and will not know until 2mos when opens the TIMES!!

Hughes has arrived as I hoped in earlier post and understand certain reservations, but if anyone has something to prove it is him after Manchester City.Surely the Fulham hierarchy would have enough sense to keep Lewington who has a unique bond with the players.Belamy would be a great foil for Zamora and offer a good alternative to Zolly in case of injury, and is coveted wherever he has been despite Bobby Robson declaring him ''the gobbiest player I ever worked with'' and I suspect many would feel the vote is out on AJ.Bit please not Stephen Ireland a good a player as he is, we have a group of players who have bonded on and off the field, and also are solid representatives of the club, Ireland's attitude to al lot of things leaves an awful lot to be desired
Replies
Are you kidding me!?? You want Bellamy and not Stephen Ireland because of his attitude?!? Are we talking about the same Craig Bellamy?? As a Irishman, as much as I hate Stephen Ireland and hope he never kicks a football again in his career - Craig Bellamy is 10 times worse!! The man has been thrown out of every club he has ever been with. If anyone will wreck the bond it will be him and not Ireland!!

I think he will do a fine job. I do think he is a bit over rated, but thst being said, he is a quality manager. Maybe now Fulham can get busy in the transfer market. The squad could use some strengthening. Time to get a mid table, between 8 and 11, finish started.

I recall a lot of people being underwhelmed by Roys appointment so it will interesting to see how this one is regarded. To be honest I hadn't even considered he would be the choice. He was one of my favourite players and he did a pretty good job with Blackburn so I am hopeful he will be goos for Fulham. I don't think we was given a proper chance at Man City so he has gor something to prove. Fingers crossed.

Oh cheer up Tom you miserable git. It could have been Sven... or Curbishley... Or Jones...

I'm quite hopeful about this, Hughes seems to always command the respect of his players (he handled Bellamy well, that's evidence enough!). And it's not just because I'm welsh.

actually his transfer deals at Blackburn were pretty good if i recall correctly. And although Hughes can get his team to win dirty when required he also had them playing a decent standard of football. They played us off the park on one occasion. I think his rep for ugly football comes from games against the likes of Arsenal and in fairness if you're a Blackburn you're not going to go out and try and play one touch flowing football against the top teams.

I'm don't think we'd have done better from whats available. Considering that are last three managers were Coleman who was cheap but did a decent job, Sanchez who no more need be said about, and Hodgson who was amazing for us but was completly left field, this is actually a big step forward for the club. We're not that big a team but we've got one of the brightest young British managers going even if he is a miserable tosser in interviews.

The Football Supporters' Federation are running a fantasy football competition for our members this season through the excellent, and free, http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ site (to join the FSF for free, see below), and we're throwing in a bunch of prizes into the bargain, too; if you're good enough to win them, that is.

If you've not played before, simply register at http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ and come join us.

If you're already on the site and have picked your team for this coming season, or are planning on doing so, then just add yourself to our league (The FSF League), the code for which is 129744-45449. We will also be running a Football League version, but more on that will come later.

Pit your wits against football fans from across the country and be in line for weekly and monthly prizes. The manager of the month each month will nab themselves a free year's subscription to our excellent (if we do say so ourselves) magazine The Football Supporter. If you doubt your ability for sustained success and feel your chance is more likely to come with a one-off fluke, then don't worry - the individual with the top score each and every gameweek will win themselves a copy of the magazine too, absolutely gratis.

And in case you were wondering, if there is a tie in any week/month then all the players with the top score will win the prize, because we're just that generous and giving.

We'll also be announcing regular extra prizes throughout the season: loads of football books, fanzines, DVDs or whatever else we can find down the back of the sofa at FSF Towers. Keep in touch with it all through our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/thefsf or our website, www.fsf.org.uk.

To be eligible to claim your prize you must be a member of the FSF. If you're already a member then you're clearly someone of good taste, but if you're not but then you'll be pleased to know that that's absolutely free as well - all it takes is 30 seconds at www.fsf.org.uk/join giving us your name, the club you support and your email address. Dead simple. And yes, we will be checking - if you've not joined the FSF before the week/month you win, the next person down the list who is a member will get your prize. No ifs, no buts.

So get along to The FSF League at http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ - code 129744-45449, and test yourselves against the football geniuses of Britain (and one or two FSF members of staff, too).

Are you referring to Martin O'Neil the Aston Villa manager? I only ask because it's such a ludicrous suggestion. Villa are already established as a top team and have the players and money to push on again this year, why would O'Neil swap that for Fulham?

Yes Milner seems likely to go, but O'Neil will then have at least £24 million, anyone else leaving will be for around the same figure. Even if O'Neil doesn't get all of that money to spend on bringing players in he will probably be allowed to retain an amount above our potential transfer budget and with a vastly higher wage budget. Even supposing that he would be leaving Villa why would he choose to come to Fulham? If he was even contemplating leaving his agent would have been putting the word out so wouldn't Liverpool have gone for him?

Hughes, although he is a good manager, is probably the wrong type of manager if we're looking to maintain soem continuity with Hodgson's regime. Personally i wouldn't go for hughes but the options are getting fewer.

Lewington hasn't had any great success as a manager, although it must be admitted that he has usually had to operate on a tight budget.

We need to maintain our current setup and if we're looking to progress we need someone who can identify talent, and sign the right players for the club, and also someone who has the reputation to attract players in. If we don't we'll be back in a Coleman like situation and if we have to be in that situation why not ge Cookie back in?

Sven is start to look the best option out of the names touted

I think that lewington needs to be retained at the club, my worry about Hughes is that he'll break up our current backroom staff, but i think if we begin the season with him at the helm we'll be courting disaster. I just don't believe he has the tactical skill required from a premier league manager or the ability to motivate the team if we get into a bad patch of form. Just my opinion and i can't say i have an intimate knowlege of him just based on my memory of his time elsewhere,

Hughes is looking the best option now and i've grown to like the idea which is strange because of all the managers originally touted for the job he was the one i was least keen on.

Please for the love of god do not get this man in as our manager.

We finally show some ambition in tryin to get Martin Jol and it seems are second best candidate is Dave Jones.

how the hell do you go from a manager who achieved alot of success at Tottenham getting them in to Europe and narrowly missing out on a chamions leage place to arsenal by 1 game and who has also got Ajax into the champions leage to Dave jones who has had man for man probable the best team within the championship and still not got them promoted after 6 years in the job. Both himself and Peter Ridsdale have put cardiff into financial trouble and now we want to bring him here.

i will support fulham till i die and if Dave Jones comes in I will give him my full support but i really hope the day doesn't come where I am forced into this.

If it's Jones we might well struggle next year. I think it's widely accepted our squad needs investment, Murphy for one isn't capable of turning in 38 premiership quality performances anymore, so we need someone who excells in that department as well as being a top coach, i'm not convinced that sounds like Jones.

I wonder if his English is any better, I personally found him difficult to listen to but I won't hold that against him, I can't speak a word of Dutch!

I thik Martin Jol would be a great manager for Fulham. He has had great success at both Hamburg and Ajax. He offers an attractive style of football and will make the most of the talent at Fulham. He was the scapegoat at Tottenham and is the most promising manager I have heard of yet to replace Roy.
I don't think he will encounter any problems with Simon Davies, but it sounds as though Danny Murphy won't be to happy. Hopefully Jol and Murphy can sit down and talk it out because Murphy is a real driving force for Fulham and I think he needs to be in the team as often as possible.

Poor old Roy, he must be realising about now what a big mistake he made. He is at a club where the players don't want to be there, the fans don't want him there, and expectations are unfeasibly high. He could have stayed at Fulham, been loved and adored with expectations well within his grasp on a tight budget. It will be interesting to watch from afar, and will be a real test of his mettle to turn round a club that seems determined to smash itself to pieces. Good luck Roy, you can always come back to the Cottage.

Glen Hoddle would be the ideal person to replace Roy.

He does a prggesivly worse job with each club he's at and he's a pretty odious indivdual. One of my best memories is Hoddle getting the boot from Spurs after we'd beaten them

Thoughts from a Fulham supporter: 2 July 2010

The announcement of Roy Hodgson's departure to Liverpool leaves me (and most Fulham supporters I imagine) with mixed feelings. Of course we would want him to stay but who would deny him even greater things in football management?
The down side for us though is that we have not had the opportunity to say goodbye to Roy and send him off from Craven Cottage with a real show of appreciation for those unforgettable two and a bit seasons. We know these days that a manager may leave when things go wrong and equally when things go very well, as is the case with Roy. He took us on a fairy-tale adventure to our highest ever league position, qualifying for Europe, and then on that incredible journey through the Europa cup to the final in Hamburg, overcoming the very best opposition on the way - who else could have done that?
Hopefully these thoughts will reach Roy, because we are unlikely to see him again at the Cottage until our home league match with Liverpool next May. Who knows he may be leading his team out as champions - our belief in Roy's leadership knows no bounds. Good luck Roy - it's been fantastic.

I have a friend who works with the accounts department at Motspur Park. He says its likely to be Sven. My own thoughts are that he has bluffed his way to where he is and would do an ok job at mid table football.
