I have a spare parking pass for the game at Old Trafford on Sunday 14th March. It's within the ground (bay N3), and can be used by anyone.

Not needed as getting public transport up to the game, but should be useful for anyone driving up as parking near Old Trafford can be a nightmare.

Looking for £20 for it - any questions please call 07961 875 326.

Alan.

I am guessing that some of you will have some pearlers for JB: :)

Football 365 has been granted an audience with serial knee-injury victim, owner of the flowingest locks in football and all-round top man Mr Jimmy Bullard this week.
As you lot tend to have so much to say for yourselves, we thought we'd let you pose the questions. Keep 'em clean but make 'em funny/interesting/weird, and we'll post the results at some point in the near future.
Send your questions to:

theeditor@football365.com

with 'Jimmy Bullard' in the subject line, and who knows - yours might get picked.
Replies
Jimmy Bullard question:

Just before you signed for Hull you were interviewed by the BBC (shown on Football Focus). You said you had a great relationship with the fans BUT refused to play for the Club because you "only" had 16 months left on your contract and the Club had not offered you a new deal.

Do you accept now that by refusing to play for the Club you wiped out that "great" relationship with the fans because we ARE the Club.

Has your dream move to a ambitous club been worth a) missing out on european football b) a chance to play against a team which is a legend of european club football [juventus] c) a top ten finish d) the chance to get an England cap.
If you had to trade your ridiculous contract at Hull for anyone of these which would it be?
Do you think Fulham are a far better team without you and that Hodgson was absolutly refuse the contract you wanted given our subsequent results and the injuries you've subsequently suffered.

How much do you enjoy playing against Scott Parker?

how many more premiership games do you think you will play in your career given that Hull are almost probably going to get relegated and if they dont you'll almost certainly get another injury? My estimate is 7

dont think mine will get put to him but i sent them anyway. Would be quite interesting to know how he feels when he sees scott parkers name on the opposing team sheet. Im going to the Hull away game so might try and get a scott parker chant going, that is if bullard isnt injured again

As ever, the FSF is your travelling European friend, and we return with a guide to Juventus for all those heading out to Italy next week. Full of the usual helpful information on where to go, what to see, do, drink and eat, it'll be invaluable if you're going to the game, or just as an interesting read if you're a curious so and so.

The guide can be found here:

Egypt are a decent side but England revealed in this game why confidence of winning the world cup in South Africa might be false.

Upson alongside Terry once again suggested that whilst an excellent club player he has serious limitations at this level. It is possible to write off mistakes at the back as being a result of a new backline but i cant recall an international game where upson rreally staked his claim to be considerd world class. If Jagielka is fit and in form before the start of the world cup id much rather see him occupy Upsons posistion. He played well when given an oppertunity against Spain, admittadly Torres turned him superbly to score but Torres is argubally the best striker in the world at the moment and Jagielka had shown he can handle him in previous meetings.

Lampard and Gerrard both playing is supposed to be a dead issue but it is not. With Gerrard on the left both England and Gerrard are limited, if Joe Cole comes back to full fitness that spot is his as provewd by his performances in previous tournaments, Chelsea git though he is. Even if Cole isnt fit and in form surely we need a proper winger there, this game shpuld have been given to Young to show if he can really cut it on the left for us.

Defoe up front with Rooney has to be consinged as a failure. I dont like defoe but conceed he has to be in the squad and can do a job but not with Rooney. Crouch once again got on the score sheet and they were for once goals scored when really needed as opposed to his habit of banging them in for fun when it doesnt really matter, e.g. Jamaica. Heskey doesnt inspire me for confidence for the worldcup nor does Crouch, i argued on this board roughly a yar back that id rather see either Aj or Zamora in the team ahead of Carlton ' i cant turn a door handle let alone a world class defender' Cole and given Zamoras run of form i really think he should have been given an oppertunity to prove if he has what it takes at this level.

Its not helpful that our choice of captains has been between a) Terry who appears to have done a team mates ex-missus, for those who argue it isnt importnat one is forced to remind them that being a captain is about having the trust and respect of the players you lead. b) Ferdinand who is one of the few football players stupid enough to miss a drugs test when they're informed well before hand so that they can mask any drugs they are taking, a truly ridiculous system. c) Steven Gerrard who cctv footage shows assualting a dj because he had the audacity to not allow him to change the music as he saw fit, far be it for me to suggest though that the only reason Gerrard isnt in prison is because of a large amount of money being used to corrupt the judicial system. Given this list Rooney seems a positive angel for his notable public embarresment, paying a granny for a shag, although im sure the supportivce tabloids would dig out some dirt on him had he been made captain.

Id be delighted if England go to SA and bring home the world cup but i cant see it happening at the moment. I dont want this to read as a whine about England being terrible, we're not we're a decent side, but i dont think we're as good as many people would like us to believe nor do i think this side is as good as the one in 2006

All over now and i can go back to my usually cheery self for Fulham. 2-1 against Spurs but a tough game we only just scrape. COYW!

Anyone else see this challenge? I dont think Shawcross had any intention of breaking ramsey's leg but certainly looks like he achieved it. Career ender?
Replies
Yes - and I agree. I don't think there was any intention to cause damage, but it was reckless. Career ending? Not sure, he is young, and players have recovered from this type of injury before, so got to say he might be back.

I know players have back recently from some horrible injuries, eduardo being one, but when i saw his half his leg and foot hanging limp from the rest of his leg i though that was it for him, at best i think he'll come back but will always have limitations in some form or other as a result. Poor guy.

By the way fulhamweb i think the change to the forum so that you can see the previous posts as you reply is a nice improvement. Cheers for your hardwork. Do you have any plans for more blogs? Perhaps one for the Juventus and Spurs quarterfinals? i always enjoyed reading them

Apparently Ramseys fracture isnt as bad as Eduardo's was. Strange how many of these injuries Arsenal seem to get. As a wales fan hope ramsey comes back strong. I dont think Shawcross went in with intent but i for one hate the football Stoke play, they can play decent football, as seen against us at the Brittania, but often choose just to play ugly. I can understand teams with limited ability kicking teams to try and stay in the game but its a different story with Stoke. Be nice if they beat Chelski in the cup though

Best time ever to be a Fulham fan? its got to be up there. 96 was bad, i remember Torquay the only team below us beating us, but i think 87 was worse, Fulham Park Rangers f*$k off. Long way to come in such a short space of time and our recent success will hopefully mean a bigger fan base upon which we can build in the future.

after an extremly bleak january febuary has been fantastic for us. I think we played extremly well yesterday.
Whilst Shaktar dominated the stats in terms of possession, corners and shots i think we did well in limiting their threat. When they tried to play through the centre we were able to breakdown their attacks or limit them to long range efforts which Schwarter, with perhaps a couple of exeptions, handled with ease.
On the wings they looked more dangerous, especially when they got to the byline, but i thought hangeland and hughes performed well and both Kelly and Baird did a good job in cutting out the crosses when they had the oppertunity.
When Daniel Costa came on for Shaktar they suddenly seemed to have an extra element of danger and the last twenty minutes were edgey to say the least. But for all Shaktars pretty play i think we were fantastically well organised, our shape when they had possession was almost perfect. Zamora did a good job upfront and Gera helped link up well, when Elm came on for BZ i was delighted with how well he did. With Elm linking well with Gera we looked more likely to see the game through and in fact had Gera finished his chance late on we would have had another win.
Murphy's red was disappointing, i dont think it was particuarly dirty and was probably only a yellow, especially given the challenge on Duff seconds earlier, but he asked for trouble and we'll miss his experience against Juventus.
Great game and a point or more at Sunderland would cap a brilliant month. All this without Dempsey and Paintsil, i think Dempsey in particular has been a real miss as Baird has deputised so well on the right when called on to do so. COYW

I was puckering a couple of times when costa had the ball, really annoyed me though when itv4s commentary were saying what a great scouting system Donetesk have, they bought him for £6mil from gremio, basically they just know the brazilain league well its not like they plucked some young brazialian off the beach. And itv once again were incredubly patronising about fulham, at one point they said we were hanging on in the tie when in fact we were winning 3-1 at that point, not a comftable 3-1 but not 'hanging on' either. Definitly has been a great month, be nice if the lads who were slagging off the team could comment on this result, maybe even accept things are going well? bet they dont though

this is why i like fulham fc :

1. i think they play fair and honestly.

2. they never look overconfident.

3. they have great potential, they have to
realise it and they can beat the best.

4. they are organised well and players look friendly with each other.

5. the club is special and their fans too, this is why they win some incredible games.

6. this teams look good because of their coach roy hodgson, the team looks as if they are good human beings like Mr.Roy

7. being an indian and a fulham fan is very rare. dont know what attracted me or fascinated me, but its quiet magical.

8. god is with you fulham, the great escape against manchester city showed it all.

i would like to end by saying that i love seeinga GERA play. he has some amazing shots. play him more and hodgson you are a man who changed it all so please dont go anywhere. whites are special and you can go miles!

i remember peschisolido scored a great goal for us against liverpool at Anfield, think it was the league cup game which finished 3-1
Sean Davis scoring against Blackburn for us to get into the premiership was pretty good as well
Also both Jon Harley and ou rother left back, Wome?, scored goals from something like 35 yards out in the same season. Both were pretty impressive

I remember that Peschy goal - I was at uni watching in the student union bar and went mad!

One goal that sticks out for me - although i cant remember who scored and who it against! - was a goal by Mark Kelly (?) against Mansfield (?). There was a fulham corner that got headed clear and he struck the ball on the full volley! Screamer!

I remember Steve Hayward scored direct from a corner for us, not sure it was the best fulham goal ive ever seen but i distinctly recall having just said to my mates "another rubbish hayward corner on the way" i swear we had twenty corners in one match once and hayward took them all and they were all slow and high and predictable and we didnt look like scoring one of them. Still annoys me thinking of hayward

that peschi goal at liverpool was a cracker we didnt deserve to lose to them

Steve Hayward, thats a player i havent thought about in a while. It was amazing how he could be sorrounded by players sprinting forward to counterattack and yet still find away to slow play down and pass it sidewards.

I remember Facundo Sava scored one hell of a goal for us when we were at loftus road. I was out of my minature plastic seat faster than you can say QPR are scum

cant remember that goal at all James, mind you i can only just remember Mark Kelly, played for us in the early 90s right? Whatever happened to him?

it was a great victory for us, although if Shaktar played the second half in the manner they ended the first i think we would have lost. They had an impressive team and i dont doubt the second leg will be very tough but im delighted with the result. great game, we've given ourselves a real chance to progress despite the away goal, which was very good. think your right to say kelly did well, a couple of mistakes but as i was very worried when i heard he was starting at LB i was really happy at how he played. if i'd been the shaktar boss id have told my team to pressurise him as much as possible

Its a brilliant result considering that when they were passing the ball well they were probably as good as any team ive ever seen. I think we have to take credit for not letting them play like that in the second half, we closed them down alot higher up the pitch, particuarly Gera, and i think Murphy made some good challenges in the centre which helped us. just wondered what everyone else thought of greening's performances for us. Personally i like him as a squad player and think if he got a run of games he might show himself as being deserving of a starting place. Also a little trivia Greening has a champions leagues winners medal

i thought he was alright at westbrom but im not a fan of his, he seems to give away the ball too easily. I still recall Kevin Betsy barging him off the ball in the FA Cup

I'm a Leeds fan but have to say I've got a bit of a soft spot for Fulham this season. I like RH and beating Man U is always good. I'm keen to see them on form at the moment though as I live in Donetsk and I'd love to see them stuff Shakhtar in the cup to shut the locals up who don't really know anything about football. They think they're one of the best teams in Europe because they've got one of the best stadiums and they were in the Super Cup. People only go to their games to see the stadium. There are so many women and children there, it reminds me of my old school swimming galas when they all cheer. COME ON FULHAM!!

Do you think the locals have ever heard of Fulham? seems to me like they are already looking at the next round?

I'm thinking of getting some of these tickets for me and my gf? Have you used this ticket company?

Squad

Been reading some post coating RH for not having quality in depth & letting Kamara go to Celtic.

Kamara - RH said he wouldn't have done it had he had different info on AJ. He took a chance, saved approx £1M on the wage bill but it backfired. So what, we'll have to live with it - I don't rememeber too many voices demanding Kamara get some game time this last month or so since he's been back!

Fulham cannot attract top players like others can. The only pull we have is London (if it suits them) and regular 1st team football. The better players are not gonna stay on the bench at Fulham on half the money they can get for doing the same (nothing) at Spurs, City, Villa. Thats why he has to gamble on lesser lights, unknowns or journeymen to make up the squad. Did anyone really think Kelly was taken on a free to push for a regular 1st team spot? Same with Nevland, Elm & Riise. When McGleish does it at B'ham he's some sort of master. RH does it and he gets coated. They're 2 spots above us & we're trying to do Europe as well! Last game was the first change of palyer in 13 games - regular side, does well, what does that remind you of?

Support

Great group of lads (& lassies?) singing at back of H3. Keep it up. It drowns out the odd moron who's still about and thinks its helpful to boo, rubbish the team in general and insult one or two fringe players in particular just because of a poor run. How many points did we thinbk we we're going to get against Chelsea, Spurs, Stoke & Blackburn away & Villa? 4 max I reckon. We dropped 4 points, not 15.

agree with most of what you say mate. Personally im not that fussed about kamara going, he never did look good enough, and hodgson was at the time reasonably sure about AJ returning.
mcleish has done a good job but he was helped by Birmingham's morale being revitalised by a new chairman with lots of money arriving. I still think well finish above them by the close of the season another top ten season would be a considerable success given how teams we finished above last season have invested

For weeks the forum had been dead, even with the transfer window looming there were very few discussions, but these past few weeks the forum has boomed and come back to life. It's funny because while the team was flying there was no one on and when things looked bad there are those who jump on and bag the team and fire everyone else into life.

It's good to see it so active now and see so many people jump to the defence of the team and the manager as they have been done superb jobs the past 18 months and we should all be greatful for the position that the team is in for both league and cup comps. As long as the players who played last night stay fit and we bring Gera in, who knows we could be back to our consistent self soon.

We've already kept 3 clean sheets in a row with a more stable defence, so as long as we get some luck it could still be one to remember.

COME ON THE MOTHERFUCKING WHITES! :)

Well said mate! I dont post too much cause im lazy.......

This is however one of the best times I have had as a fulham fan.

My first game was Vs Wolves in the coca cola cup in 1996, I have seen Fulham lift the 2nd and 1st Div trophys.

But to be compeating in Europe like we are, still in the FA cup with a good chance of getting to a semi final AND to be making the beating of Man Utd and Liverpool look easy...

Well done to Hodgson, the Chairman and all the team.

For all you moaners... Enjoy the good times while they last... clubs are going belly up everywhere...

I dont think anyone would deny we've not been playing well recently and whilst the important thing against Pompey was to win no matter what I think we really need to produce a convincing performance against Burnley. 3 points will take us to 34 points and will let the squad focus on pushing up the table but if we lose or just hand in another disjointed performance i think we'll spend the rest of the season worrying about getting the points required to keep us from being dragged into a relegation slog. There are reasons why we've not played well recently but Burnley offers us a chance to show we can still produce. Hoping Shorey shows why he was a good capture and O'kaka and Zamora start and get a couple of goal. This might yet be a memorable season, would anyone really have turned down 10th and still in the FA cup and Europe at the start of the season?

it looked like Burnley put in a decent performance on the weekend but i think Hodgson will be expecting more from the team than we've seen recently, i think what he said recently in the press and what he's been saying behind closed doors might be a little different. Either way i think if we start with o'kaka and zamora up front and our wide men put some decent balls in we'll bag a couple of goals. My main worry will be how we'll battle Burnley in the centre, need Murphy to play well, he's looked tired recently but we still need him to turn up for this one. I'd say 3-1 to Fulham but when do the whites ever let us have a relaxed final ten minutes?

cheer up there mate, your right that Burnley will be looking to build on their last result so its important we start off strong and try and keep them quite for the first twenty minutes. If its 0-0 half an hour in we'll go on to win, the most important thing is not to let them start fast out of the blocks and get some confidence.

Aside from your terrible grammar and punctuation i think your point is incorrect. No we havent been playing well recently but there are certainly reasons for that. One of which is injuries but to suggest we should have bought more players int he window is foolish. We dont know what moves were made behind closed doors and it is clear Hodgson did attempt to aquire cover upfront for zamora and at right back. There arent many good players available in the transfer window just fat donkeys like beattie who will try and hold clubs to ransom. Who would you have bought supposing we had six million to spend? Secondly our run of form is not due to injuries alone but also a result of the games weve played, defeats away against good opposistion and a home defeat to a side pushing for fourth place dont equal disaster, though i agree it was disappointing. Having got the points against portsmouth and kept a clean sheet against bolton i think it is important for us to play well against burnley hence my thread. We happen to have an excellent chance of getting to a quarterfinal int he FA cup and a good draw might well see us progress further. Europe does look difficult but anything can happen in a cup. With injuries coming back into the team and shorey and o'kaka i think we'll pick up soon but even if we finish thirteenth and get to a quarterfinal those of us who remember the days pre-AF will consider this a good year.

Oh and as for Kamara im sure he'll look good in scotland were he gets more time and space but in the premieship, despite some outstanding moments, he never looked capable of being consistently good enough. Also hodgson didnt know johnson would be out for the season till after the window had closed.

Wheres the faith, what do expect us to do, win the league or something?! We have half the wage bill of portsmouth whose lets face it, are as good as gone not just from the premier league. Our wage bill is nothing compared to most of the league and we don't have money to throw around like the top clubs. We have done extraordinarily well with the resources we have in this league.

Our squad is much small with much less depth then that of Man City and Tottenham, teams we finished above last season, so injuries like we have now practically cripples us, so a win like this despite the opposition should be praised.

We don't realistically think we're gonna win Europa and FA cup but is it so bad to dream? We've had a shit run of games in a period of horrendous injuries which has lead to bad performances and losses, so now that we're finally getting players back and getting a good run of games and winning, we should be happy not negative.

We're 9th BE HAPPY! :)

How can you say Zamora "aint anythin" when he's our top scorer this year and I think you'll find he scored on tuesday.....yes he did! He is not the most talented player at the club but he works his arse off and has got his rewards this season. Why have a dig at Okaka just because he doesnt speak English? Did you act like this towards Beckham when he went to Real Madrid? Or Capello when he first started managing England? You must just be one of those "supporters" that just ruin everything for everyone else. Do us all a favour and start "supporting" Brentford. You should fit in nicely with their scum in the stands.

I thought they were bad against Blackburn and Aston Villa, but they really hit rock bottom against Pompey. Kelly, Baird, Murphy, Okaka, Duff: hopeless! Thank goodness they couldn't score. We didn't deserve to win and it took a lucky, offside goal to clinch the points. If the commentators are correct and 36 points is going to be the safety line we are very lucky because we MIGHT just scrape those 6 points before the end of the season.
Replies
Okaka made his debut and looked useful, no excusing his miss but once he's bedded into the team i think he'll be a good player.

Shorey also made his debut and was rather good given how little he's trained with the players around him

Duff made the goal we scored and given the lack of movement in the centre of the pitch pompey must have had an easier time closing off our flank men than they should have.

Baird needs to be rested, this run of defeats has led to him putting in weaker and weaker performances. Morale seems an important aspect of his character and i think he'd come back stronger if we rotated him out of midfield for a spell. Also he isnt a midfielder, as far as im aware he played CB for Saints and has been consistently played out of posistion by us

Murphy is getting older and that has to be realised and a replacement found. Our exploits in Europe and the Cup has meant Murphy has played more than i would have liked, recently he hasnt looked as dynamic on the ball and struggles to make the impact he has before. If we could rest him then im sure we would but who can take his place at the moment

I agree Kelly doesnt seem good enough to hold down a regular place in our starting line up but he is a relativly inexpensive reserve and if paintsil had only missed a couple of games i think he'd have been fine but he has been pretty poor, though against Spurs he wasplayed as a left-back, which to mind is foolish

We definitly need to put in better performances but if we can build on this result there's no reason we cant turn things round. Optimism would be nice, we're in the top half of the table, still in europe and have an excellent chance of progressing in the FA cup

Baird did look good at right-back, it might actually be his best performance in that posistion so far. Duff played well last night, as did greening, though Zamora was looking good and will hopefully continue the form he was showing befor his injury when he gets back to full fitness. Given we had two players making their debuts and have had plenty of injuries to disrupt the squad should we really have expected a breathtaking performance?

Duff was once again an inspiration in an otherwise team who's perfomance lacked ambition,Pompey certainly had a greater desire to win,I am confused at Roy Hodgson's reluctance to include Helge Riise in the starting line up,his presence in the Europa games have ensured our continued participation in this competition he was also a great inspiration to the team when he came on as a sub against Aston Villa,I would also like to see more of David Elm
posted by Billyboy (Guest) - Thursday 04th February 2010, 3:10 PM

I like Riiser too, i think Hodgson might consider him a little lightweight for the prem at the moment and that introducing him gradually will lead to him becoming a very good player in the future.
Elm seems to have potential and i think he'll be getting more playing time from now till the end of the season as he now seems to be our backup for Zamora
Duff played well in the second half and has to be considered a very good signing by Hodgson, i admit at first i was dubious about buying him as he was so often injured for newcastle but im very glad to have been proved wrong

To O'Hodgsons-nephew. I have been watching Fulham longer that you have been on this planet. In the first half only Shorey, Schwartzer, Hughes and Hangeland showed any class or determination. Everyone else, including your favourite Duff, was inept giving the ball away in evey part of the pitch. Okaka was straight into a new team so I don't think you can blame him too much but the rest were inept however you look at it, through rose-coloured glasses or not. If they were all so good why were the crowd getting into them? Until they tired and we secured our offside lucky goal, who looked the most likely team to score/win? And try to be honest, not just stupid and abusive.

"We catch Bolton sleeping we could get 6 points from the rest of this month" you are absolutely correct we COULD, but our away form is woeful, and before we scraped a lucky win against the worst side in the league by a distance on Wednesday, we had been caught cold by two teams at home as well. We COULD win all our remaining games and qualify for the Champions League, but on the evidence of the previous 6 games I think we might struggle. We desperately need the likes of Dempsey, Pantsil, Etuhu and even Gera back toute suite.

i dont think anyone here's suggested that fulham played well against portsmoutgh just that we werent as atrocious as you suggest. Yes Pompey had chances and we were lucky but i can think of plenty of games where the shoes been on the other foot. Given our recent run what was important was not the performance but the result. Our run of defeats included good teams and five were away. You state 'before we scraped a lucky win against the worst side in the league by a distance on Wednesday, we had been caught cold by two teams at home as well' I believe im correct in stating that our last two home league games have been against Villa and spurs both of whom are looking to finish in a champs league place and have better squads than ours by some distance. In fact our last two league defeats at home our Villa and Arsenal and given we have beaten ManU and Liverpool at the cottage this season i think we have reason to look at the postitive. I wont argue abpout how long you've supported fulham, if you say you've been a fan since the depressing days of old ill take it at face value, but surely you recognise how well we're doing and that we have every reason to believe we can press on up the table despite our injuries. Yes Boltons a tough place to go and itll be a scrap but if the team builds on this win we'll have a good chance. I think wewonitonce point was that we should be thinking positivly not negativly. We are tenth, still in the FA cup and still in Europe, as for a relegation scrap yea it COULD happen but so COULD us reaching Wemberly. Personally given some of the dross int he league and with this win under our belts im not worried about relegation i've had plenty of grim times as an ffc fan to stress about possible troubles

actually having watched pompey play both live and on tv a think its a bit harsh to label them the worst side in the league, certainly they have the least poiunts but hteyve handed in some good performances many of which far exceed Hull, Wolves or Boltons. Obviously the final test is points tally and that is what i think your missing, we won, 3 points, onto 30 points already, some good games to get stuck into and the prospect of reaching higher up. Our recent bad run has been a combination of heads going down after defeats n tough away games, a truck load of injuries, and key players looking tired from the amount of games we've played thus far.
"im not worried about relegation i've had plenty of grim times as an ffc fan to stress about possible troubles" Well said Fortress, Fred if you rember the bad times like when there were moves to merge us with QPR surely you dont have the time to be bleak at us being tenth. Improvement needed for this to be another great season but plenty of reson to believe it still can be a very good one

You are both correct. Pompey play much better than some of the other teams, the off field distractions are costing them dearly. And yes, we are better placed than most. My original point was that their performances have just been getting worse and worse since before the Blackburn game and IN MY OPINION they were woeful against Portsmouth. It also seems AJ and John Pantsil are out for the season. Let's see how they go tonight against Bolton although even elsewhere on this site the expectations are low :
"Bolton are a tough proposition particularly at home where they have lost just once in their last 6 Premiership games. Fulham on the other hand are a pushover in away games having gained just 1 point in their last 6 away games. They have managed one Premiership win away from home this season, which was against lowly Portsmouth on the first day of the season. The Cottagers won 3-1 at Bolton last season but that was the only Premiership win in the last 6 visits. It is hard to see Fulham getting anything out of this game particularly in light of the horrendous injury list".

3 months out from the end of the 2007/08 premiership season I made a $50 bet with my Wigan supporter friend that Fulham would survive and escape relegation. The team had been in relegation for 2 months or something and I made the bet purely out of faith and bleak hope we would escape. I still remember sitting head in hands at half time against man city, not over the bet but the realisation that we were relegated, who would have thought we would come back and win and go on to survive.

My point is, in tough times we'll pull together and grind out wins at home and hopefully results away. You gotta remember we played extremely well on Boxing day against spurs and were unlucky only to get a point, we then travelled to Stamford Bridges and were undone by an extremely unlucky own goal, but you know, losing at stamford bridges is generally considered unforgivable...

Moving on to a mid-week game away at Stoke City, another fortrese where even top teams are beaten and despite a poor first half performance and display of defending we almost managed to get a result (no penalty for Huth's HB). By this time the team are not only physically fatigued given they have played 2 games a week for 3 months, but also lacking confidence.

They travel to Accrington Stanley, didnt play particularly well on a ground that didnt favour our passing game, but got the result. We then travel AGAIN to Blackburn where a corner isnt cleared and samba thumps in the opener, before a dynamic Dempsey is desperately unlucky not to win goal of the month and equalise. He then gets injured and Blackburn find a sealer.

This defeat was the worst in my opinion as Dempsey who looked the most dangerous on the day got a long-term injury, this added to Zamora's injury severely hurt our attacking threat, which heading into yet another away game against spurs isn't ideal. We lose that and we're fully sapped of confidence so that even the prospect of a home game doesn't lift us enough to beat Villa who had what we don't, a consistent striker capable of scoring 12 or so league goals a year (yes I know zamora) Agbonlahor's class was the difference, which wasn't there for us.

We are now completely flat, we've lost half a dozen starting players, our top scorer over the last 3 years (Dempsey), as well as both our full backs and with Zamora still getting his touch back a win was all we wanted.

Injuries have killed us badly, fixture build up has killed us leading to both fatigue and injuries, but the players endeavor in most of the games during our poor run should not be questioned, we played 4 top 7 teams in our 6 games winless run, 3 away.

We should pick up more points against bottom half teams in the coming weeks and ease the pressure and raise the confidence of the team so that we don't only confirm a 9-12 table position but also so we push on in the FA Cup and who knows the Europa League.

Anyways, I don't think the team deserves half of what has been said, we're not a big squad and we don't have everton's depth who during a similar time could comtinue to push on, but the team has been unlucky and given a few more wins we'll hopefully be talking about a possible face off with Chelsea at Wembley.

Thanks 4 reading this far :)

I agree todays game will be tough fred, im not going bottled at the cost of the train, but we beat them 3-1 last year and with the win over portsmouth we need to go there believing we can get the points.

Chance of wembley yes timmy, wanting to face CFC in the final, not me i only do that in my drems where i hit the winner from 35 yards out. If we could get to a semi against a team we can beat and then face an easy final id love it. Agree with most of your analyss but i think Shorey will really improve our performances as we've obviously missed having a proper LB and i hope o'kaka will show his worth once he's bedded in. Hoping zamora gets back amongst the goals against Bolton

Alright, I concede I was wrong to get so miserable, that's Fulham for you. That performance was inept, but two wins and a draw since, without many first choice players and without playing to their usual standard has me humbly apologising. They played well today against an ordinary Burnley side. I know they are ordinary because even Chris Baird, playing out of position at right back, looked totally in control. Long may it continue and I will shut up and enjoy the ride. :)

i respect that fred. I agree Burnley doesnt mean we've turned the corner as they are poor but all signs point to the up. Hope you keep posting on the forum as we need as many people discussing stuff as possible and at least your views are interesting

It's official, our charmed run with lower league teams continue as we have Notts County in the 5th round, still yet to face someone from the Premier League or Championship.

Having said that Notts did win at Wigan and can do the same thing against us, and the last thing we need is a replay and having to go to their place.
