West Ham have recalled striker Freddie Sears from his loan spell at Scunthorpe.
Sears had been expected to stay at Glanford Park until January 3 but Hammers manager Avram Grant has decided to terminate the 21-year-old's loan in the hope that he can add some firepower to his squad as he looks to drag his team off the bottom of the Barclays Premier League table.
Sears, who burst onto the scene by scoring on his West Ham debut as an 18-year-old, failed to find the net during a two-month spell at Scunthorpe despite starting nine games.
The striker is set to go into the Hammers squad for the crucial fixtures against Fulham, Everton and Wolves over the festive period.
