West Brom's hopes of signing Fulham captain Tom Cairney look pretty slim, to say the least.

Even slimmer if the rumours are true that they have had a £15m bid turned down.

That's the claim of Guardian Deputy News Editor, Ed Aarons today.

He tweeted: "Fulham have rejected £15m bid from West Brom for Tom Cairney. Championship club determined not to sell ffc wbafc "

Alan Pardew was thought to have made a £12m bid for the Fulham midfielder, although sources close to The Cottagers have played down talk of a bid.

He is now odds on to stay at Craven Cottage this winter, reports our colleague at Get West London, Ryan O'Donovan.

He wrote today that no bid was received by Fulham and that the club are sticking to their standpoint that no key players would be leaving this January.

He stated: "No bids have been made for Tom Cairney, despite reports to the contrary today on Twitter.

"Reports have suggest West Brom were making a £12m bid for the Fulham captain, while further reports today suggested that the club have now rejected a £15m bid, but GetWestLondon understands from sources at the club that no such bids have been made."

The captain made an appearance in the 6-0 win over Burton as he recovers from another setback with his knee injury, a problem that has plagued him throughout the summer, and has been in full training this week.
