Heggem a rumoured Fulham target |

Injured Liverpool defender Vegard Heggem has
reportedly become a transfer target for newly-promoted Fulham.
According to reports in Norway, the right-back has been tracked by the First
Division champions for the past year and could move to the capital if he
passes a medical later this summer.
The Norwegian defender picked up a new injury in his comeback when The Reds
played against Blackburn in a reserve match, having returned from a hamstring
injury, which he had operated on earlier this year.
But the player told the Norwegian press that he had not heard of Fulhams
interest and was not paying too much attention to the rumours linking him
to Craven Cottage, saying that the only thing that concerned him at the
moment was to get back to full fitness.
However, Fulham coach Jean Tigana is a long-time admirer of the Norwegian
defender and is keen to bring the player to west London to strengthen his
defence ahead of next seasons topflight campaign.
The clubs owner Mohammed Al Fayed has made substantial funds available
to his French coach to recruit new faces for Fulhams first Premiership
campaign and Tigana is expected to talk to his close friend Gerard Houllier
to enquire about Heggems availability.
Heggem himself has stated that he is keen to stay at Anfield and fight for
a first-team place next season. |
