FORMER Scotland boss Craig Brown wants Gary Naysmith for Fulham.
Brown has urged Fulham gaffer Chris Coleman to move for the Everton star.
Fulham need to fill the left-back berth after the collapse of a bid to bring in Ben Thatcher from Manchester City.
And Brown, who handed Naysmith his international debut, sees the former Hearts man as the ideal solution.
Naysmith, a one-time target for Celtic, would be able to leave Goodison Park for nothing at the end of the season.
Naysmith is a Scottish international defender who moved to the Premiership to join Everton in October 2000 for £1.75million.
Coventry City had been the favourites to snap up the player but once the Toffees learned he was available they entered the race and Naysmith opted to move to Goodison Park.
He had joined Hearts in December 1994 and was loaned out to Whitehill Welfare during his early years to gain experience. He went on to make 121 League and Cup appearances for Hearts.
He is an outstanding full back who has performed well in the Premiership.
Naysmith made his debut in a 1-0 win at Newcastle United, and three games later netted the winner at Bradford City.
Competent in either of the full-back positions, Naysmith missed the back end of the 2001/02 season with an ankle injury.
He returned to fitness for the start of the 2002/03 term, and he continues to be a very useful player for Everton, finding a niche in midfield from time to time.
