Fulham want to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Ricardo Pepi in the winter market and have been chasing him even before the window opened.
On January 12th, PSV general manager Marcel Brands had revealed Fulham offered €25m for the striker. He then picked up an injury, raising doubts whether a move is possible in this window. That hasn’t put off Marco Silva’s side.
Last week, the Dutch press indicated the saga could drag until deadline day. That is what has now happened and Eindhovens Dagblad covers the latest.
The London club have approached PSV again on the ‘penultimate day’ of the window with a €35m offer. According ED, the Eredivisie side are reluctant to let the American leave today due to limited options [because of injuries] in attack.
ED say the only way PSV can sanction a move is if they find an appropriate replacement for the 23-year-old. That seems unlikely considering the window closes in the next few hours.
The same source claims a transfer may ‘still be on the horizon’ as PSV can agree terms with Fulham for Pepi to join them in the summer.
De Telegraaf cover the latest on the Premier League side’s ongoing pursuit to try and sign Pepi.
According to the Dutch newspaper, the €35m bid submitted by Fulham on Sunday is ‘very attractive’.
Sources close to the player have informed the newspaper that Fulham may have reached an agreement with PSV. This is for him to arrive in the summer and a move on deadline day depends on a key condition.
It’s not ruled out for him to join the English club on deadline day but that remains highly unlikely.
That’s because the Eindhoven side don’t have sufficient time to bring in a replacement for Pepi even if the Dutch window closes tomorrow.
