Fulham manager Scott Parker is preparing a move for Paulo Gazzaniga following Tottenham’s goalkeeper shake-up this summer.

Spurs have drafted in Joe Hart on a free transfer to compete as back-up to Hugo Lloris, which has added to Gazzaniga’s competition for matches next season.

Parker is willing to offer Gazzaniga a chance to challenge for the No 1 jersey at Craven Cottage, where Marek Rodak and Marcus Bettinelli are already in his ranks. He loaned out Fabri to Mallorca last season and has Jordan Archer as back-up.

Gazzaniga, 28, will offer Premier League experience having played 25 games in total last season including Champions League matches when Lloris was out with a serious elbow injury.

He was brought to Spurs by Mauricio Pochettino, who had worked with his fellow Argentinian at Southampton where he was mainly back-up and had a loan spell playing regularly at Rayo Vallecano in Spain.

At Spurs he was seen as ideal back-up for Lloris, coming into the team to play mainly cup matches, with Michel Vorm also at the club at the time.

In October last year, when Lloris was injured at Brighton, he was put into the first team and played every game until mid-January, during a period when Pochettino was replaced by Mourinho in the dugout.

Parker is trying to bolster his squad with players with proven Premier League experience, with Gazzaniga fitting the bill.
