Fulham are preparing a club-record bid for Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro, after an opening offer of £12m was rejected.
The Cottagers, who like Wanderers are planning for life back in the Premier League, appear very keen on the Portuguese winger and are ready to submit a bid of £14m to test the old gold resolve.
Cavaleiro, still only 24, enjoyed a particularly productive season individually last year.
The swashbuckling attacker combined well with newcomers Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota in a front three for the large part of the season, and he himself netted nine Championship goals and created 12 more in 42 Championship matches as Wolves stormed to the title.
Now Fulham, who dumped Aston Villa out of the play-offs for another crack at the top flight, are yet to make a signing but are on the hunt for permanent deals of former loan stars Aleksandar Mitrovic and Matt Targett.
It appears that they’re eager to pursue a deal for Cavaleiro too.
