Claus Jensen's hopes of returning to the Fulham side for Monday's Premiership visit to Crystal Palace were dashed by a new injury setback today.
The Danish international midfielder, who had recovered from a calf strain which caused him to miss the last two matches, was ruled out after hurting his back in training.
Greece international midfielder Lakis signed a one-year deal with the club this week and will be added to the squad if his clearance comes through in time.
Defender Fitz Hall is doubtful after a scan on a bruised foot, so Mark Hudson is likely to start against his old club after recovering from an ankle injury. Darren Powell is out for a month with a fractured cheekbone and Mikele Leigertwood came through a run-out in the reserves but is still feeling the after-effects of a knee injury.
