Luis Boa Morte and Pierre Wome are doubts for Fulham's trip to Sunderland on Saturday, while Louis Saha is ruled out through injury.

Cottagers manager Jean Tigana faces a selection headache for the big game at the Stadium of Light - Saha will be missing because of a hamstring knock, Boa Morte has a knee problem and Wome is highly doubtful because of an eye injury suffered on his debut against Tottenham.

It all points to a return at left-back for Rufus Brevett, with Steed Malbranque coming in on the left of midfield and Steve Marlet returning up front.

Marlet was dropped for the midweek game against Spurs but boosted his confidence by scoring a hat-trick in the reserves' 6-0 win over Queens Park Rangers. He is included in the squad to travel north but will face competition from Barry Hayles, while Lee Clark, back after an Achilles injury, hopes to be included against his former club.

Sunderland

Kevin Kilbane is primed to run a gauntlet of abuse - from his own Sunderland fans. The winger has become a hate figure after flashing an angry V-sign at barracking supporters on a Black Cats pre-season tour.

Striker Marcus Stewart, Sunderland's £3.25m new-buy, knows time is not on his side. The former Ipswich hitman is under no illusions that he must bring his goals to the Stadium of Light - and quickly.

With first-choice Kevin Phillips out for six weeks after a hernia operation, Stewart will be given the chance by Reid to strike up a partnership with £6.75m Tore Andre Flo.

Black Cats defender Mark Maley, 21, is on the verge of quitting the game. The former England Youth full-back has failed to regain the sight in one eye after being shot by team-mate John Oster in April when an air-gun prank went wrong.

Matt Piper is hoping to recover from a groin problem and inspire Sunderland to a first home win of the season against Fulham on Saturday. With Gavin McCann added to the squad after recovering from an ankle injury, Reid has options in midfield but is looking to the pace and guile of Piper to help solve an ever-increasing goal-scoring problem.
