Fulham midfielder Steed Malbranque says he is in no hurry to sign a new contract with the West Londoners.

The 25-year-old has been an integral part of Chris Coleman's squad in recent seasons.

The Cottagers turned down summer bids from Premiership rivals Manchester City for the former Lyon player, while Newcastle United were also monitoring the Frenchman's situation.

With his current Fulham deal set to expire in the summer of 2007, Malbranque insisted how vital it is for Fulham to remain in The Premiership, with the club just two points above the relegation zone at present.

"I'm feeling really good at the moment, but as regards to my future, we'll wait and see what happens," Malbranque said.

"I'm not in a hurry to sign a new contract.

"It's vital the club remain in The Premiership - and maybe the 2-0 victory against Liverpool last Saturday will turn our fortunes."

Fulham's win over The Reds was tempered by a late defeat to high-flying Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
