Spurs move for Steed Malbranque is reported to involve cash and a player. The player being offered to The Cottagers is Wayne Routledge who has been unable to hold on to a regular place in Tottenham's crowded midfield.
Routledge is a product of Crystal Palace for who he made his debut in September 2002 against Wolves, scoring in the first minute. Following a starring role in Palace's ill-fated 2004-2005 Premiership campaign the England junior was bought by Spurs.
Unfortunately he suffered a broken metatarsal soon after arriving at White Hart Lane which put him on the sidelines for the best part of four months and was never able to get a long enough run in the first team.
He is a right-winger with pace and skill which would allow Chris Coleman to obtain width on that side of the pitch.
