Midfielder Steve Sidwell has agreed a two-year contract at Stoke.

The 31-year-old was released by Fulham after their relegation from the Barclays Premier League and Potters boss Mark Hughes, who signed him for the Cottagers when he was in charge there, has taken the chance to add him to his squad.

Sidwell will officially join on July 1, following Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley in completing a summer move to the Britannia Stadium.

"Steve was much in demand following his release by Fulham and we are delighted to have won the race to secure his signature," chief executive Tony Scholes said.

"Mark Hughes signed him for Fulham and from talking to Steve I know how much he's looking forward to working with him again.

"Steve brings great experience to our squad and I'm sure he will prove to be an excellent addition to our squad."
