Neil Warnock has major problems in attack for tomorrow's game against Fulham with Marcus Bent suspended and Jon Newby returning to Liverpool.
Bent completes his two-match ban while Newby's three-month spell on loan from Liverpool has come to an end.
Laurent D'Jaffo, who scored against Gillingham after coming on as a substitute, would appear to be the obvious candidate to replace Newby.
But Warnock admits to having reservations about pairing D'Jaffo with David Kelly.
He said: "The way we play, I don't know whether we can play Laurent with Kelly."
Warnock could decide to give young Andy Smith his full debut. The Belfast-born striker, who was making his ninth appearance as a substitute, wasted a great chance to score his first senior goal on Saturday, hitting the post with a close-range shot.
United's finishing let them down again on Saturday as they went down to their first home defeat of the season.
