Fulham defender Sean Kavanagh will spend the remainder of the season in League Two after being loaned out to Mansfield on Saturday.

The 21-year-old first made an impression on the Fulham first team under Kit Symons, notably scoring the winner against Norwich in a 1-0 win last season.

Kavanagh was used in both midfield and defence last season as he joined Patrick Roberts, Moussa Dembele and Emerson Hyndman in making the step up from the club's academy.

The left-sided player since lost his place after the club took Luke Garbutt and James Husband on loan in his favoured left-back position, with Alex Kacaniklic and Ben Pringle also coming into the side in midfield.

The Republic of Ireland U21 was a favourite under Symons but has only made two appearances so far this season, both under caretaker manager Peter Grant, before the appointment of Slavisa Jokanovic.

He will join the promotion-chasing Stags, just two points off the play-offs, and could make his debut as early as today, when they host Luton Town.
