Scott Parker has signed a three-year deal with Fulham after the Cottagers stole another transfer target from under the noses of a fellow London club.

Parker had been strongly linked with a move to QPR with Rangers manager Harry Redknapp saying a deal had been "agreed" for the England midfielder just last week.

However, in a similar fashion to Fulham's capture of Darren Bent, who was close to joining Crystal Palace, the 32-year-old will move to Craven Cottage instead.

The former Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year said "I'm delighted to be joining Fulham and I'm looking forward to meeting my new teammates at training tomorrow morning. Fulham is an established Premier League club and I look forward to trying to help the team progress even further over the next three years."

The deal QPR agreed with Tottenham was understood to be £2m, and it is expected Martin Jol's side have matched that offer.

The Fulham manager is clearly delighted to have secured another high profile signing.

"I'm delighted that Scott has joined us," Jol said. "He's a midfielder who works tirelessly for his team and is a fantastic player both on and off the ball. It is wonderful to see a player of his stature playing for Fulham Football Club as he has shown his qualities in the Premier League and for the England team for many years. I'm happy that he's here and joins us for training ahead of our first home match of the season."

Parker suffered badly with injuries last season after playing a major role in England's progress to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012. A raft of new arrivals at White Hart Lane led to Andre Villas-Boas sanctioning his move away.
