Fulham’s rising star Ryan Sessegnon is among the 10 athletes nominated for the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year.

Sessegnon turned 18 in May and has already established himself as a crucial player for newly-promoted Fulham, for whom he has played 91 games since his debut in August 2016.

The winger scored and provided two assists in the Cottagers' victorious run through the Championship Play Offs and was the first player from outside the top flight to be nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Sessegnon is the only footballer on the shortlist for the prize, which will be announced at the Radio 1 Teen Awards on Sunday.

Among the other stars of the future joining him are Jack Draper, runner-up in the Boys’ Singles at Wimbledon, and James Bowen, the youngest jockey to win the Welsh Grand National.
