ROY Hodgson personally wrote to each and every one of the 170 brave souls who made the horrendous trip to Stoke two weeks ago - even if it did take the Fulham boss two sessions to sign the lot.
But there's no plan to repeat the gesture for the 296 fans that made it to the re-arranged fixture that saw the Whites lose 2-0 at Blackburn on Sunday.
Fulham's away following is the worst in the Premiership by a distance, and the team has yet to add to the single away win at Portsmouth on opening day. But forward Erik Nevland refuses to blame the threadbare support at some games for the team's woeful away form.
Nevland said: "That would be too easy to blame the number of supporters at matches."
Hodgson, who wrote in his letter that he hoped each fan's 'particular experience was not too grim' in the 3-2 defeat at Stoke, reckons referees also play a part in Fulham's fortunes on the road.
He said: "Supporters influence referee decisions - of course they do. Decisions go more your way when you're at home, and players are under pressure they don't feel when they're at home in the comfort of familiar surroundings."
