Reserves lose to QPR

Fulham played host to QPR this afternoon at Motspur Park in this Combination League fixture.

The match saw the long-awaited return of Karlheinz Riedle following a lengthy injury lay-off. Riedle almost got his return off to a scoring start as he flung himself at a cross only yards from the goal line, fortunately for Rangers, Riedle managed to miss the target when scoring appeared the easier option.

Fulham’s best chance of the game fell to Paul Peschisolido only a few minutes later. Peschisolido, having recently returned from a loan spell at QPR, found himself off balance at the crucial moment as he fired wide from six yards.

The remainder of the first-half ended without event following a scrappy display, brought about as a result of the swirling wind and driving rain.

The second-half saw the end of the game for Riedle, who had an adequate run-out given his current level of match fitness.

With neither side creating too many clear-cut chances it became apparent that if this match was going to produce a winner, it would only be from a single goal.

The winning goal unfortunately came from QPR striker Bertie Brayley who slotted past Hahnemann.

With neither side making significant inroads into their opponent’s penalty area after the goal, the match came to a conclusion with Fulham exerting the most pressure yet failing to make the final ball count.

Marcus Hahnemann, Mark Hudson, Keiran McAnespie, Alan Neilson, Tom Hutchinson, Zat Knight, Steve Hayward, Karlheinz Riedle (Cornwall), Paul Peschisolido, Calum Willock (Hammond), Michael Johnson
