Referee Paul Tierney was promoted to the Select Group of Referees ahead of the 2015/16 season after a successful seven years on the National List.

The Lancashire FA official became a member of the National Group of Referees ahead of the 2009/10 campaign, with Macclesfield Town against Notts County on the opening weekend of the League Two season being the first fixture he refereed.

Ref Tierney last refed Fulham earlier this season when Fulham lost 2-0 at Liverpool. He booked two players one from each team.

Earlier this season, 18/19, he was our ref when we lost 5-1 to Arsenal at The Cottage. Two Fulham players were booked, Vietto (57,f) and Schurrle (70,f).

Last season, 17/18, he refed Fulham twice, in November the 1-0 home win over Millwall in November, two Millwall players were booked and in August the 2-0 win at Ipswich he had a quiet game issuing just one yellow card.

The last time Ref Tierney refed a Manchester United game was in their 2-1 home win against Brighton in the Premiership back in January this year. One yellow card was shown to Rashford of Man Utd

Last season Ref Tierney reffed 32 games dishing out 81 yellows, a well below average of 2.5 cards a game, and NO red cards. This season so far he has dished out 74 yellows in 23 games, an increased average of 3.2 cards a game, and one red

His busiest game recently was the game between Arsenal and Huddersfield when he booked nine players, five from Arsenal and four from Hudersfield.
