At only 25 years of age, Michael Oliver became the youngest referee in Premier League history when he took charge of Birmingham City’s clash with Blackburn Rovers in August 2010, and he has remained a top-flight official ever since.
Oliver’s rapid rise up the Football League ladder culminated in him being added to the Select Group of referees for the 2010/11 season. Prior to his time in the Premier League, Oliver was a Football League referee for three years after learning his trade through four years at non-league level.
In 2012, his quick progress was rewarded as he was elevated to the FIFA list of referees, making him eligible to take charge of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, as well as international matches. Oliver was promoted to the UEFA Elite Group of Referees in 2018.

Harrison Reed scored Fulhah's first goal, Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a penalty for our second and Tyrone Mings obliged with an own goal in the 84th minute.
Prior to the Villa game, mentioned above, Mr Oliver last bossed a Fulham game back in February 2019 when Fulham lost 2-0 away at Crystal Palace. He booked five players including Fulham players Maxime Le Marchand, Denis Odoi and Ryan Babel all for fouls.
Prior to the Palace game Mr Oliver bossed us in the 3-2 win against Southampton in November 2018 when he booked five players including Alfie Mawson and Stafan Johansen for fouls.
Co-incidently the previous time Mr Oliver bossed Fulham was in Jan 2018 when we lost 1-0 to Southampton in the FA Cup at the Cottage. He booked one player from each side the Fulham player was Kevin McDonald.
The last occasion Mr Oliver refed Wolves was in October 2022 when they lost 4-0 at home to Leicester. He booked two Wolves players and one Leicester player.
Last season, 2021/2022, he refed 46 games and dished out 160 yellows and 11 reds, so 3.5 yellows per game. So far this season he has refed 29 games dishing out 108 yellows and 2 reds, so an average 3.7 yellows per game.
