Referee Neil Swarbrick started refereeing quite late at 29 years of age and worked his way up from the Northern Premier League being appointed as a member of the Select Group of Referees who officiate all Premier League fixtures in June 2011.

His first Premier League appointment came in December 2010, when he was in the middle for Fulham’s goalless draw with Sunderland.

Mr Swarbrick is the second Premiership ref in succession to take charge of a Fulham game following Lee Mason for the Reading game.

He last bossed a Fulham game back in August 2015 when Fulham lost 2-1 at home to Brighton when he booked two players from each team.

This season ref Swarbrick bossed the Newcastle v West Ham game in September when Aleksandar Mitrovic ended up getting a retrospective three match ban for violent conduct.

Mr Swarbrick last refed Brentford back in February 2013 when they were beaten 4-0, in the FA Cup, away at Chelsea. He booked two players both from Chelsea.

Last season he reffed 34 games and dished out 126 yellows and 3 reds, so a slightly above average 3.7 yellows per game. This season so far the numbers are 22 games 62 yellows and no reds so a less agressive average of 2.8 yellows per game.

Ref Swarbrick's busiest games this season so far are Chelsea v Everton and Liverpool v Leicester where he yellow carded five players in each game.
