At only 25 years of age, Michael Oliver became the youngest referee in Premier League history when he took charge of Birmingham City’s clash with Blackburn Rovers in August 2010, and he has remained a top-flight official ever since.

Oliver’s rapid rise up the Football League ladder culminated in him being added to the Select Group of referees for the 2010/11 season. Prior to his time in the Premier League, Oliver was a Football League referee for three years after learning his trade through four years at non-league level.

In 2012, his quick progress was rewarded as he was elevated to the FIFA list of referees, making him eligible to take charge of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, as well as international matches. Oliver was promoted to the UEFA Elite Group of Referees in 2018.

Mr Oliver last refed Fulham in January when we beat Brighton 2-1 at The Cottage, he booked one player from each team Fulham's man was Sander Berge for a foul. Samuel Chukwueze and Harry Wilson, Harry scored the winner in the 92nd minute with an excellent free kick.

Prior to the Brighton game Mr Oliver refed Fulam's game in December 2025 when we won 3-2 away at Burnley, he booked Kenny Tete for time wasting and Joachim Andersen for a foul. Fulham goal scorers were Emile Smith Rowe, Calvin Bassey and Harry Wilson.

Earlier the season, in September 2025, Mr Oliver refed Fulham when we beat Brentford 3-1 at The Cottage. He booked four Fulham players, Josh King for simulation, Sasa Lukic for a foul, Bernd Leno for timewasting, and Kevin for delaying the restart, and one Brentford players. Fulham goal scorers were Alex Iwobi and Harry Wilson.

In April 2025 Mr Oliver was the Ref when we lost 1-0 away at Bournemouth, he booked three Bournemouth player and two Fulham players Tom Cairney and Antonee Robinson both for fouls.

A year before, in April 2024, Mr Oliver refed our 3-1 away defeat at Nottingham Forest. He yellow carded one player who was from the Forest squad. Tosin Adarabioyo was our goal scorer.

About a month earlier, February 2024, Mr Oliver refed Fulham when we beat Man Utd 2-1 at Old Trafford. He booked 5 Fulham players, Tosin Adarabioyo (25,f), Andreas Pereira (42,f), Harry Wilson (46,f), Bernd Leno (90,tw), Tom Cairney (110,arg), and two Man Utd players.

Prior to the Man Utd game he bossed a Fulham game in September 2023 when we lost 5-1 away at Man City. He allowed an offside goal for Man City just before halftime and booked two City players and four Fulham players, Issa Diop and Antonee Robinson both for fouls while he booked Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Andreas Pereira for dissent.

In February 2023 when we drew 1-1 at home to Wolves He booked two player both from Fulham, Joao Palhinha and Andreas Pereira, both for fouls. Manor Solomon scored Fulham's only goal Traore loses out to Robinson in a 50-50. Solomon then cuts in from the left and whips a stunning effort into the far corner. Earlier in the same season, 22/23, Mr Oliver refed Fulham in October 2022 when we beat Aston Villa 3-0 at The Cottage in the Premier League. He yellow carded two Villa players and sent off another one in the 62nd minute. Harrison Reed scored Fulham's first goal, Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a penalty for our second and Tyrone Mings obliged with an own goal in the 84th minute.



The last occasion Mr Oliver refed Aston Villa was in February 2026 when Villa drew 1-1 at home to Leeds United. Mr Oliver booked one Villa player and four Leeds players.

Last season, 2024/2025, Mr Oliver refed 47 games and dished out 208 yellows and 9 reds, so 4.4 yellows per game. So far this season Mr Oliver has refed 40 games dishing out 144 yellows and 3 reds, so 3.6 yellows per game.

His busiest recent match was the Man City vrs Liverpool game in April 2026 when he dished out 6 yellows, three cards to each team.
