Referee James Linington |
Referee James Linington can claim that every match in the EFL is an overseas appointment, requiring the short hop over from his home on the Isle of Wight.
He is a very experienced referee having refereed in the EFL for 10 seasons and last season he has joined the new elite group of full-time referees to officiate Sky Bet Championship matches, titled as Select Group 2.
Mr Linington last reffed Fulham in the 2-1 home win against Barnsley. He yellow carded two Barnsley players and Ojo for simulation.
He also bossed the 5-4 away win at Sheffield United when he booked three Sheffield United players and four Fulham players, Fredericks (33,arg), Ayité (45+2,f), Odoi (73,f), Kamara (90+6,tw).
He also reffed us in the opening game of the season when we drew 1-1 at home to Norwich and he booked 6 players three from Fulham, Cairney (66,f), Johansen(85,f), Fredericks(88,d), who got upset after their goal, clearly offside, was given. and Oliveira (88,ec, who scored their goal and got over excited.), Dorrans (89,f), Maddison (90+4,f).
The last occasion Mr Linington reffed Ipswich was in August this season when they won 4-3 away at Millwall and he booked six players, four from Ipswich.
Last season he refed 35 games and dished out 146 yellows and 4 reds, so 4.2 yellows per game. Leaving him above the League average of 3.4 yellows per game but below average for red cards.
So far this season he has refed 25 games and issued 84 yellows, an average of 3.4 cards per game and a well above average 5 reds.
His busiest game this season, so far, was our game with Sheffield United when he booked seven players, four from Fulham.
