Referee James Linington can claim that every match in the EFL is an overseas appointment, requiring the short hop over from his home on the Isle of Wight.

He is a very experienced referee having refereed in the EFL for 11 seasons and in 2016/17 season he joined the new elite group of full-time referees to officiate Sky Bet Championship matches, titled as Select Group 2.

Mr Linington last refed Fulham in December 2017 when we beat Barnsley 2-1 at The Cottage. Ref Linington booked three players, the one Fulham player booked was Ojo who was booked for falling over early in the game, at least he went on to score the second goal.

Prior to the Barnsley game he bossed our 5-4 away win at Sheffield United in the November when he booked three Sheffield United players and four Fulham players, Fredericks (33,arg), Ayité (45+2,f), Odoi (73,f), Kamara (90+6,tw).

He also reffed us in the opening game of the season when we drew 1-1 at home to Norwich and he booked 6 players three from Fulham, Cairney (66,f), Johansen(85,f), Fredericks(88,d), who got upset after their goal was given in the 88th minute although it was clearly offside.

The last occasion Mr Linington refed Huddersfield was in February 2017 when they won 3-1 at home to Brighton. He booked four players, one from Huddersfield, and one of the three Brighton players got a second yellow.

Last season he refed 33 games and dished out 115 yellows and 3 reds, so 3.5 yellows per game. Leaving him fractionally above the League average of 3.4 yellows per game but below average for red cards.

His busiest games recently were too many to mention with four games last season ending with seven yellows and one games ended with six players being yellow carded and one of those getting a second yellow. This season he has started a bit quieter with a total of five yellows and one red in two games.
