Referee Lewis Smith moved up to the National League five seasons ago in 2019/2020 and is now in his second full season as an EFL referee having been promoted in the summer, he did have some experience of refereeing in the Championship, League One and League Two. Mr Smith made his Championship debut during the 2022/23 season and his Premier League debut in 2024.
This is Mr Smith's fifth meet up with Fulham.
The last time Ref Smith bossed a Fulham game was the League Cup game against Bristol City at The Cottage in August 2025 which we won 2-0. Only one player was booked and that was Timothy Castagne of Fulham for a foul and Raul Jimenez was Fulham's goal scorer.
Ref Smith's previous visit was in August 2024 when Fulham
draw 1-1 away at Ipswich Town He booked five players including Sasa Lukic, Antonee Robinson and Adama Traore, all for fouls. Adama Traore was our goal scorer.
Before the game at Ipswich Town he refed our home 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa in February 1924. He booked five Fulham players and two Villa players.
The first time Mr Smith refed a Fulham game was the League Cup game, in November 2023, away at Ipswich which we won 3-1. He booked five players including Sasa Lukic, Raul Jimenez and Harrison Reed.
The last time Mr Smith refed a Middlesbrough game was in August 2025 when they won 1-0 at home to Sheffield United. He booked three players all from the United team.
Last season, 24/25, he refed 52 games and dished out 174 yellows and five reds, so an average of 3.3 yellows per game
His busiest game in recent times was the Preston vrs Birmingham game, in October 2025, when he booked five Birmingham playeres and two Preston players.
