Referee Geoff Eltringham |
Referee Geoff Eltringham, 36, a talented footballer in his youth and, after leaving school, decided he still wanted to be involved in the game and thought refereeing was the best way to do that.
He came through the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youth League, Northern and UniBond leagues and then, the Blue Square North and Blue Square Premier, being promoted to the National List of Referees in 2009. In 2016 he was appointed to the new elite
Select Group of full-time referees to officiate at Championship matches.
The last time Ref Eltringham bossed a Fulham game was on the 14th July 2020 when we drew 0-0 away at West Brom. Three players were yellow carded all of them from the West Brom squad.
Mr Eltringham previously bossed Fulham on the 1st of January 2020 when we lost 2-1 at home to Reading. Mr Eltringham booked seven players, three from the Reading Squad and Joe Bryan (45,f), Ivan Cavaleiro (62,f), Aleksandar Mitrovic (73,sim) and Anthony Knockaert (90+2,arg).
Before the Reading game he refed our 1-1 away draw at Sheffield Wednesday in September 2019. He booked three players including Bettinelli in the 90th minute for time wasting.
In January 2018 Ref Eltringham bossed the away 1-0 win at Middlesbrough. Mr Eltringham booked seven players, three from Fulham, Stefan Johansen (13,f), Ryan Fredericks (57,f), Denis Odoi (60,f) and more importantly he gave Fulham a penalty in the 95th minute which Oliver Norwood converted.
Prior to the Boro game Ref Eltringham bossed our home draw against Bolton Wanderers, in October 2018, when he yellow carded five players, four from Bolton and Kevin McDonald for dissent in the 84th minute. McDonald then went on to provide the cross for Cairney's last minute goal.
So far this season Mr Eltringham has refed Cardiff once which was in January2020 in their 2-2 FA Cup home draw with Carlisle. One player from each team was yellow carded
Last season Mr Eltringham reffed 37 games and dished out 125 yellows, so an average of 3.4 yellows per game, and an average 5 red cards. So far this season he has refed 30 games and issued 98 yellows, an average of 3.4 yellows a game, and 2 red cards
His busiest games in recent times were the games between West Brom and Middlesbrough on the 29th December 2019 when he booked four West Brom players and three from Middlesbrough and the Fulham v Reading game, detailed above, when he booked another seven players.
