Referee Gavin Ward |
Referee Gavin Ward became a referee, in the Conference League, in 2006 and joned the Football League in the following season. He was promoted to the Select Group 2 list of referees ahead of the 2018/19 season after over ten years as an EFL referee in League One and League Two.
He last refed a Fulham game when we beat Cardiff 2-0 in July 2020. Mr Ward booked three Fulham players, Anthony Knockaert (39,f), Michael Hector (58,arg), Cyrus Christie (78,f), and one Cardiff player. Fulham's scorers were Aleksandar Mitrovic, he drew a foul in the penalty area and scored the penalty, and Josh Onomah, with a right footed shot assisted by Stefan Johansen.
Just a month earlier in June he refed Fulham when we beat QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road. He booked five players, three from Fulham, Cyrus Christie 32 (f), Tom Cairney 53 (f), Anthony Knockaert 64 (f). Harry Arter and Cyrus Christie were the Fulham goal scorers.
Prior to the QPR game the last time Mr Ward refed a Fulhaqm game was when we beat Huddersfield 3-2 at The Cottage
in February this year, after going 3-0 up. He booked four Fulham players, Kevin McDonald (48,f), Cyrus Christie (82,f), Marek Rodak (90+2,tw) and Stefan Johansen (90+4,f), and one Huddersfield player.
Mr Ward's previous meeting with Fulham was nearly three years earlier in August 2017 when we won 2-0 away at Wycombe Wanderers in a League Cup game. Mr Ward booked just one player Cauley Woodrow for dissent in the 32nd minute.
Mr Ward's most recent meeting with Coventry City was in their 2-2 draw at Bristol Rovers in January 2020. He booked six players, two from the Coventry City squad.
Last season he refed 31 games and dished out 108 yellows and 4 reds, so an average of 3.5 yellows per game.
His busiest game recently was in August this season, in the game between Millwall and Blackpool when he booked 7 players, four from Millwall and three from Blackpool. He also sent off a Blackpool player in the 14th minute.
