Referee Dean Whitestone had been a goalkeeper in his playing days but changed direction to follow his father, Tony, a local referee.
He progressed through the lower leagues joining the League list as an assistant referee in 2001 and succeeded in getting promoted to referee level in 2006. Mr Whitestone was a Metropolitan Police Officer for some 16 years before joining the Referee Select Group 2 for the 2019/20 season
Mr Whitestone last refed Fulham in January 2022 when we won 3-2 away at Stoke City and he booked two players both from the Stoke team. Rodrigo Muniz and Bobby Decordova-Reid were Fulham's goal scorers
In November 2021 Mr Whitestone refed Fulham when we won 1-0 away at Peterborough United. He booked five players, four from Fulham Denis Odoi (32,f), Neeskens Kebano (66,f), Tim Ream (84,f) and Tom Cairney(93,f). Aleksandar Mitrovic scored our only goal.
Earlier in the season, in August 2021, Mr Whitestone refed Fulham when we beat Huddersfield Town 5-1 away at John Smith's Stadium. He yellow carded one player from each team, Bobby Decordova-Reid was the Fulham player he was booked in the 39th minute for not retreating at a free kick. Mr Whitestone then red carded Harry Wilson who he judged to have to have kicked out at Huddersfield's Colwill who had fouled him. Colwill was yellow carded for the foul.
It was nearly a year earlier when Mr Whitesone refed a Fulham gam in September 2020 during the League Cup game away at Ipswich. Fulham won 1-0 with a first half goal from Aleksandar Mitrovic. Mr Whitestone kept his cards in his pocket.
In 2019/2020 season,Boxing Day 2019, Mr Whitestone bossed Fulham, in the 3-3 away draw at Luton Town. Obviously keen to spread Christmas good will Mr Whitestone kept his cards in his pocket.
Earlier in the season he refed Fulham in a Championship game against Wigan in September 2019 which Fulham won 2-0 . Mr Whitestone booked five players including Harrison Reed and Aleksandar Mitrovic both for arguing with opposition players.
In the promotion season 2017/18 he managed our EFL Cup 1-0 home defeat by Bristol Rovers in August 2017 when he booked three players all from Bristol Rovers.
He also refed two Fulham games in 2015/2016 a 2-3 home defeat by Burnley in March 2016 when he booked three players, one from Fulham Madl (f) 85 and the 3-0 home league victory over Sheff Utd in Aug 2015. There were no bookings for Fulham but he booked two United players and sent off another two in the 88th and 90th minutes!!
Mr Whitestone last refed Rotherham United in October 2023 when they lost 2-1 at home to Bristol City
Last season he refed 35 games and dished out 105 yellows, an of just 3.0 yellows per game, and 3 reds. So far this season he has refed 17 games and issued 63 yellows, an average of 3.7 yellows per game, and two reds.
His busiest game in recent times was the game between Millwall v Norwich when he booked five Norwich players and three Millwall players finishing up with a red for a Millwall player
