Referee David Webb |
Referee David Webb, 44-year-old, from County Durham, took up the whistle at the age of 14 after reading the match programme, when his beloved Sunderland lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the FA Cup Final at Wembley in 1992, in which the Football Association wrote about their need to recruit referees.
Mr Webb dropped out after a year to continue playing but returned to refereeing six years later and became a Football League assistant referee in 2006 before graduating in the middle the following year. He was promoted to the Select Group 2 list for 2018/2019 season.
The last time Mr Webb refed a Fulham game was in March 2022 when we beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 at The Cottage. He booked four players, two from each side, the Fulham players were Tim Ream and Neco Williams. Neeskens Kebano and Harry Wilson were our goal scorers.
Earlier in the same season, September 2021, refed the 4-1 away win at Birmingham. He booked two Birmingham players and one Fulham player, Jean Michael Seri for a foul. Fulham goal scores were Denis Odoi, Aleksandar Mitrovic (2) and Harry Wilson.
Mr Webb last refed a Fulham game in February 2020 in the 2-0 home win against Preston. Mr Webb kept his cards in his pockets despite 11 fouls by Fulham and 6 for Preston. Aboubakar Kamara scored Fulham's only goel, the other goals was a Preston own goal, he launched a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal. Assisted by Ivan Cavaleiro following a fast break.
Prior to the Preston game Fulham had only been bossed by Ref Webb three times, in the 1-0 home win over Middlesbrough he booked two players, one from each team. The Fulham player booked was Kevin McDonald, for a foul in the 60th minute
In the 1-1 home draw with West Brom in September 2019, booking Steven Sessegnon (41,f) and Denis Odoi (90+4,f).
In December 2017 in the 2-2 away draw at Hull, Aboubakar Kamara scored both goals. Mr Webb only booked one player our Kevin McDonald.
Wigan Athletic last had the pleasure of Mr Webb in January 2023 when they drew 1-1 away at Luton and he booked just pne player.
Last Season Ref Webb refed 32 games dishing out 118 yellows, an average of 3.7 cards a game, and 1 reds. So far this season he has refed 20 games given out 52 yelles and no reds, so an average of 2.6 yellows a game.
His busiest game in recent times was Leeds vrs Preston a year ago when he booked 10 players, four for Leeds and six for Preston.
