Referee David Coote started refereeing as a sixteen year-old. He refereed in the Notts Alliance League, the Northern Counties East Football League, the Northern Premier League and the Conference North before being promoted to the Football League. A talented cricketer David played cricket for Notts at various youth age groups, before committing to his refereeing career.

He was promoted to the list of Football League referees in 2010 and to the Select Group 2 of Football Referees, employed on a full time basis ,in the summer of 2016.

The last time Mr Coote reffed a Fulham game was the 5-0 slaughter of Huddersfield in which he yellow carded three players including Fulham's Fredericks in the 36th minute for arguing. Palmer, of Huddersfield, was lucky to have avoid a red card for a wild first-half challenge on Fredericks in the 36th minute.

Prior to the Huddersfield game, in August, Mr Coote reffed our 2-1 League Cup home win against Middlebrough. He booked three Fulham players, Stearman, again, Adeniran and Kavanagh, all for fouls, he also booked one Boro player also for a foul.

In 2014/2015 season, when he first reffed a Fulham game, he reffed three Fulham games, all away games, two defeats and a draw. Last season he reffed Fulham once in a draw and this season so far he has reffed Fulham twice, both victories. In total so far he has been in charge of two wins, two draws and two defeats.

So far this season Wigan has been reffed three times by Mr Coote, all three were defeats

Last season he reffed 30 games, dished out 111 yellows and 5 reds,so a slightly above average 3.7 yellows per game. So far this season he has bossed 27 games dishing out 101 yellows and 4 red, so again a slightly above average 3.7 yellows per game.
