Referee Peter Bankes |
Referee Peter Bankes, who began refereeing in Liverpool in 1996, aged 14. is 36 year old and in 2016 was appointed as a full time Select Group 2 referee after becoming a National Group referee in 2014.
Saturday's game will be Ref Peter Bankes' second Fulham game this season. His first game was Fulham's 2-1 away win at QPR at the end of September. Mr Bankes booked three players from each team, the Fulham players were Norwood (63,f), Fredericks (64,d), Button (87,tw).
Last season he bossed one Fulham game, the 4-0 home defeat by Bristol City, in which he yellow carded two players on each side, Sigurdsson and Parker for fouls. Ref Banks also sent off McDonald for a serious foul, a studs-first challenge, in the 79th minute, three of the City goals had been scored by then so the sending off had little bearing on the final result.
He has reffed Wolves twice this season, a 2-0 away defeat at Sheffield United and a 2-1 away win at Bristol City. In the Bristol City game Ref Bankes yellow carded one Wolves player and sent off one in the 14th minute follow up by the sending off of a Bristol City player in the 63rd minute.
Last season he refed 38 games and dished out 127 yellows and 12 reds, so an average 3.4 yellows per game and a joint top tally of 12 reds.
This season so far he has dished out 106 yellows and 8 reds in 31 games, so an average of 3.4 yellows a game and a second highest number of reds
Mr Bankes has calmed down this season with his highes tally being the seven yellows in the Ipswich 2-0 win over Reading in December. Last season he had two games when he issued ten cards, one of eight cards and two of seven cards!!
