Referee Peter Bankes, who began refereeing in Liverpool in 1996, aged 14, was appointed as a full time Select Group 2 referee in 2016 after becoming a National Group referee in 2014.

He was further promoted to the Select Group 1, at the start of the 2019/2020 season, enabling him to referee in the Premier League.

Mr Bankes last bossed a Fulham game in April of last year, 2023, when we beat Leeds United 2-1 at The Cottage. He booked four players all from the Leeds United team. Harry Wilson and Andreas Pereira scored Fulham's goals and a certain Joao Palhinha scored for Leeds :-)

A year previously in October 2019 he refed Fulham when we drew 0-0 away at Middlesbrough in the Championship. He yellow carded three Boro players and two Fulham players,Denis Odoi (7,f), Harrison Reed (72,f). To make it a little more difficult for Fulham he sent off keeper Marek Rodak in the 17th minute. The Slovakian shot-stopper was penalised by referee Peter Bankes for deliberate handball after he misjudged his charge out of his box and Jonny Howson tried to flick the ball over his head.

Earlier in the same season, August 2019, Mr Bankes refed Fulham when we were beaten 2-1 at The Cottage by Nottingham Forest. He booked four Forest players, two for time wasting, and two Fulham players, Harry Arter (50,f) and Aboubakar Kamara (90+9,d).
