40-year-old ref Anthony Taylor started refereeing in the Northern Premier League in 2002,[2] progressing to officiate in the Conference North in 2004. He was appointed to the Football League referees' list at the start of the 2006–07 season
His first Premiership game was the Fulham 1-0 win over Portsmouth in February 2010, the year we played in the Europa League Final.
Ref Taylor was promoted to the League's list of Select Group of Referees for 2010–11 and then in 2013 he was promoted to the FIFA officials list.
The last time Mr Taylor refed a Fulham game was during the 2014/2015 season in the FA Cup. He refed us away at Sunderland in January 2015 and Fulham drew 0-0. Mr Taylor booked three Sunderland players giving one of them, Rodwell, a second yellow in the 66th minute.
Mr Taylor last refed an Aston Villa game in April 2016 when they lost 3-2 away at Watford. He yellow carded two Watford players and three Aston Villa players, he ended up by sending off Aston Villa's Aly Cissokho in the 73rd minute.
Last season he refed 41 games and dished out 161 yellows and 5 reds, so an above average 3.9 yellows per game.
So far this season he has dished out 140 yellows and 5 reds in 38 games, so a slightly reduced average of 3.7 yellows a game.
His busiest games so far this season were three Premiership games in which he dished out 7 yellows in each game.
