Referee Paul Tierney became a member of the National Group of Referees ahead of the 2009/10 campaign, bossing Macclesfield Town against Notts County in his first game.
Mr Tierney was then promoted to the Select Group of Referees ahead of the 2015/16 season after a successful seven years on the National List. He was promoted to the FIFA list of Referees in 2018
The last time Mr Tierney bossed a Fulham game was in December 2023 when we beat West Ham 5-0 at Craven Cottage. He booked three players including Joao Palhinha and Fode Ballo-Toure both for fouls.
Earlier in the season in September 2023 Mr Tierney refed Fulham when we drew 0-0 away at Crystal Palace. He booked three Palace players and two from Fulham, Tim Ream and Joao Palhinha, both for fouls.
Mr Tierney was also the ref in the previous month in August 2023 when we drew 2-2 away at Arsenal.
Mr Tierney booked five players and sent off one of them with a second yellow, all from Fulham.: Raul Jimenez (19,f), Calvin Bassey (51,f), Sasa Lukic (66,f), Marek Rodak (74,tw) and red carded Calvin Bassey (85,f(2nd yel)).
Prior to the Arsenal game, in late January 2023, Mr Tierney
bossed Fulham when we were edged out 1-0 at home to Tottenham by a Harry Kane goal. Three Spurs players were booked while just one Fulham player, Palhinha, was booked.
Mr Tierney also bossed a Fulham game, earlier in the same season, in November 2022 when we were edged out 2-1 in the home game against Manchester United. He booked one player from each team, the Fulham player was Bobby De Cordova-Reid. The Fulham goal scorer was Dan James.
Ref Tierney bossed a Fulham game in January 2021 in the 20/21 season when we drew 1-1 away at Tottenham. He booked three players including Franck Zambo for failing to retreat and Joachim Andersen for time wasting.
In season 2019/2020 he refed the second leg of the Playoff semi-final against Cardiff. He booked eight players, four from each team, with Bobbie De Cordova-Reid (50,f), Marek Rodak (59,tw), Cyrus Christie (69,f), and Josh Onomah (90+4,tw) from Fulham .
In the 2018/2019 season he bossed Fulham when we were beaten 3-0 at home by Manchester United.
Prior to the Man Utd game Ref Tierney refed Fulham earlier in the season when Fulham lost 2-0 at Liverpool in November. He booked two players one from each team, the Fulham man was Calum Chambers.
Referee Tierney was also our ref when we lost 5-1 to Arsenal at The Cottage. Two Fulham players were booked, Vietto (57,f) and Schurrle (70,f).
The last time Ref Tierney refed a Man City game was in April 2024 when they won 4-2 away at Crystal Palace.
Last season Ref Tierney refed 30 games dishing out 119 yellows, an average of 4.0 cards a game, and three red card.
In recent time one of his busiest games was the game between Ipswich and Coventry when he booked five Ipswich players and two Coventry players.
