John Brooks started refereeing in 2004 in local leagues throughout Leicestershire, when he was 14.
Ref Brooks is a part of the Select Group 2 of full time referees, meaning that he can officiate matches at Premier League and Football League level, whilst he also joined the FIFA International Referees List as an assistant referee earlier this year.
In 20014/15 he started refereeing in the Conference League, moved up to the Football League in season 2016-17 and then the Championship in 2018/19.
The last time Mr Brooks refed a Fulham game was in July 2020 when he bossed our 1-1 away draw at Wigan. He booked seven players, four of them from Fulham, Denis Odoi, Josh Onomah, Neeskens Kebano and Michael Hector all for fouls. Neeskens Kebano levelled with a free-kick four minutes after the break
Prior to the Wigan game Mr Brooks had only had the pleasure of bossing one Fulham game which was the 3-2 home victory over Luton in October 2019. He booked one piayer, Tom Cairney for a foul in the 73rd minute. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored all three Fulham goals
The last time Ref Brooks bossed a Reading game was in April 2021 when he was in the middle for Reading's 2-2 home draw against Swansea. He yellow carded three players.
Last season he officiated at 32 matches issuing 104 yellow cards and 5 reds, some 3.3
yellows per game.
His busiest game in recent times was Preston vrs Stoke in September 2021 when he
booked seven players, five of them from the Stoke team.
