Fulham Coach Claudio Ranieri was very proud of the way his team fought against Spurs but unfortunately a lack of experience saw them unable to see out the match.

The Whites went ahead in the first-half thanks to a Fernando Llorente own goal but Dele Alli equalised early on in the second-half.

Fulham were seconds away from earning a point but Harry Winks headed in from close-range to steal all three points for the visitors.

“Its unbelievable, our first-half was fantastic and we also had [a shout for a] penalty but the referee didn’t see, and penalties are only when the referee whistles,” said Ranieri.

“I think it was a good match. The First-half was fantastic, the second-half we controlled the match very well in a defensive way.

“We gave a gift on the first goal and the second goal is unbelievable to explain.

“Calm, we want to stay calm, calm, keep possession, lets finish the match and at the end, after three minutes of extra time, 48 seconds they score a goal.

“But we are alive and we continue to fight, the team showed a fantastic performance. I can say only well done but stay very, very smart until the end.

“But you know, a lot of them, it’s the first time they’ve played in the Premier League. Ryan Babel made a very, very good threat for the Tottenham players and I’m very pleased with him,” said the Fulham Manager.

The impressive display from January signing Ryan Babel pleased the Italian who is excited to see what he can offer when he is fully fit.

“Of course he doesn’t have 90 minutes because in Turkey there is a winter break, but I think in one month he has 90 minutes in his legs.”

When asked if he has seen enough fight from his team to convince him that Fulham can stay up he said he was impressed.

“I told them, well done the match was fantastic. The first-half was amazing and I say just why we want to score again, only the experience we lack because they gave the maximum.

“And we must continue to give the maximum in every match, in every performance. I want to thank our supporters because they pushed a lot behind us.

“I am positive because when you play this kind of football, this kind of performance we must believe and I believe in my players.

“Of course we have to change something but if you continue to fight you have to change,” said Ranieri.
