PSV Eindhoven defender Timo Baumgartl has passed a medical at Fulham ahead of completing a loan move, reports Football Insider.

This site reported yesterday that the 24-year-old was expected in London to complete formalities before a move to Craven Cottage.

A source at the London club has told Football Insider that a loan deal is close to completion after the centre-half completed his medical.

The Cottagers have made a move for the German defender in a bid to solve their defensive crisis.

Scott Parker’s side have endured a difficult start to the 2020/21 campaign and currently sit bottom of the Premier League after four straight losses in which 11 goals have been conceded.

Baumgartl made 22 appearances for PSV last season, including three starts in the Europa League group stages, and caught the eye of the newly-promoted side.

The former Germany Under-21 international is now set to swap the Philips Stadium for Craven Cottage just 12 months after his £9million arrival at PSV from Stuttgart.

Football Insider revealed earlier today that the Cottagers’ move for Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo is in risk of a deadline-day collapse.

Negotiations have stalled over a potential £15million-plus deal, with Fulham now pushing for a loan agreement rather than the previously discussed permanent move.

Such a collapse would epitomise what has been a difficult transfer window for the London club, a number of deals having falling through this summer.

Baumgartl is set to become the club’s ninth summer signing following the arrivals of Anthony Knockhaert, Ademola Lookman, Harrison Reed, Kenny Tete, Ola Aina, Mario Lemina, Atonee Robinson and Alphonse Areola.
