Fulham midfielder Olivier Dacourt has admitted that he is contemplating retiring at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old is slowly finding his feet at Fulham, whom he joined on loan in January after finding first-team appearances hard to come by at Inter under Jose Mourinho, but he clearly wants more than just to go through the motions.
"I am progressively settling into the team. It’s about recovering the right rhythm in a league where the tempo is very high," Dacourt said.
When pressed on whether he sees a long-term future, the former French international provided an answer which was perhaps more than the interviewer had bargained for.
"I am not sure at all," he said. "As far as I am concerned, I just want to enjoy myself. I may stop my career at the end of the year. Two months are remaining for me to have fun."
Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson, for one, has already indicated that he is hoping he can secure the former Leeds United and Roma midfielder on a free transfer at the end of the season.
