Fulham had difficulties getting their game
together up in Tractor land and paid the price.
Early in the first half Marcus Bent was able to capitalise on a ball bouncing
around in the the Fulham area and that was that as we were incapable of
scoring a single goal against Ipswich. A short time after Bent's goal Louis
Saha had a chance to equalise but was not up to the moment and fluffed it
Time and time again Fulham players made bad passes and it became quite clear
that replication of their usual good performance was beyond them and they
served up what could be their worst away effort of the season.
Jean Tigana had started off with an experimental midfield of Zak Knight,
Sylvain Legwinski, Bjarne Goldbaek and Steed Malbranque but at halftime
he took off Zak and Bjarne and replaced them with John Collins and Bazza
Hayles. But although the change gave us the semblance of cohesion goals
were still as far away as they had been in the first half. A game best forgotten.
Other games
The first of the two significant other games on Tuesday and Wednesday went
against us with Charlton taking all three points at home to Derby with a
goal in the 79th minute. Due to our 1-0 defeat we remain in 10th place in
the Premiership.
