Middlesbrough v Fulham cancelled - drat

last updated Saturday 22nd December 2001, 12:31 PM
Middlesbrough's clash with Fulham was a victim of wintry conditions in the north-east of England.

After a safety inspection, it was decided that the game between the 10th-placed Cottagers and Steve McClaren's Boro, currently 16th, should be postponed.

"Following a safety inspection on all routes leading to the stadium, including pedestrian access, it was decided that it was unsafe to allow the match to take place," a club spokesman said.

"A number of factors were taken into consideration, including the expected deterioration of the weather conditions. It is disappointing as the pitch is perfectly playable.

"However, there were still concerns as to the conditions of the seated areas and the deteriorating weather forecast."

As yet, there is no rearranged date set for the fixture.
