Fulham's Maik Taylor has signed a four-year
extensions to his contract.
Taylor has not allowed the signing of Dutch international Edwin van
der Sar to deflect him from his goal of winning back his first-team place
this season.
He has therefore committed his future to Fulham until at least the end of
the 2004-2005 season, with boss Jean Tigana intent on keeping the backbone
of his First Division promotion side together while also adding new faces.
Northern Ireland international Taylor, 29, who joined Fulham in November
1997 from Southampton, has refused to give up on a first-team place even
after van der Sar's recent £7million signing from Juventus.
Taylor declared: ``I'm delighted to have reached agreement on a new contract
at Fulham. The club is a fantastic place at the moment.
"The club, the manager and everyone here is very ambitious and I want
to be part of that.
"Obviously I'm disappointed not to be starting the season in the first-team
but it's down to me to knuckle down and force my way back into the side."
