Luis Boa Morte was handed his first call-up to the Portugal national team on Monday as a reward for his inspired form with Fulham.
The striker, on loan from Premiership Southampton, has played a significant goalscoring role in the west London side's promotion to the top-flight.
He has been called into the squad for Wednesday's match against France by coach Antonio Oliveira, whose side has been ravaged by injuries.
He replaces Porto's Nuno Capucho, injured in Porto's 4-0 defeat of Aves in Das Antas on Sunday.
Also ruled out of the squad are Sporting Lisbon's Joao Pinto, Boavista's Petit and inspirational playmaker Rui Costa of Fiorentina.
